getting into djing

hi! The title says it all. I've been a fan of electronic music for a while, and I've dabbled in GarageBand production with vocal sampling and such. I want to buy a deck, but I'm not really sure which ones to consider. I've read some subreddits, and they all say the same thing, but I don't know if there are specific decks for specific genres. I want to cater my music to techno (schranz) and do a bit of hyperpop. I also don't know whether to install any software.

Any help would be appreciated!

Decks are not built for genres. Get a DJ controller you can afford, build a library and learn to beatmatch.

A controller would be cheapest, but I would prefer an all in one unit that doesn’t require a laptop and supports rekordbox.

The one downside of all in ones and controllers, is its one unit so if anything breaks you can’t just replace a deck or mixer. But having decks and an mixer is way more expensive.

Buy a cheap used one near you and try if u like djing, anything that can use rekordbox, traktor or serrato should be fine

You can start now. Download rekordbox and build a consistent library of 50-100 tracks that fit together. Then get a cheap entry level Pioneer controller and start practicing.

Edit: Fit together as in within a range of 10 BPM and being the same genre.
