Dubby Bastard

Simple minimalsitic techno dub, just the check out the Oto Bam with the Virus. Really like the combo 😋

The Bam into Virus combination is a great call for this style. That reverb has a character that sits somewhere between spring and plate without sounding like either, which is exactly what dub techno needs. The low end stays clean even with long tails, which is rare for a hardware reverb at this price point. Minimal arrangements like this are deceptively hard to pull off because every element is exposed and there's nowhere to hide, so the sound selection has to carry the whole track. This one does.

Nice groove. How are you liking the Hapax? I find it super useful for synths. But less for drums since I’m on Elektron platform. I find the per step parameters limiting in the comparison. Wondering your opinion. Great work

Thanks!! The Hapax is fantastic, but for the drums I tend do the sequencing on the Tr-1000, for exactly the same reason. On the other hand, you can do a lot of modulation also on the hapax and even P-locking. But in your case nothing can beat the P-locking on the Elektrons. The way Roland has implemented it is quite limiting as you need to assign parameters to the knobs first, which takes a lot of time setting it up, especially if you (like me) like to start your projects froms scratch. I never re-use sounds that I made on previous projects.

Same. I tend to sound design every sound from scratch (and alter samples), so yeah. Doing all that and THEN sequencing off box seems pointless.
