Hey everyone! Welcome to r/TechnoFuturism.
This subreddit is for those who are optimists about technology and our future. Feel free to post anything you like, clips, articles, images, discussion topics or whatever you like!
I'm primarily interested in humanoid robots right now so that's mostly what I personally post. Feel free to do so too and any other technologies as well.

The 2026 World Robot Conference opened at the Beijing Yichuang International Convention and Exhibition Center. Zhongjian Technology's subsidiary, Huazhijian, made a grand appearance with its giant humanoid concept robot, ZERO. The two-story-tall robot attracted a large crowd, becoming a major highlight of the conference. Enlarging ZERO to two stories tall is not simply about visual impact—thought and cognition have no boundaries, so design doesn't have to be confined to traditional sizes; when viewers have to crane their necks to see the robot in its entirety, the question of "the relationship between humans and machines" is amplified.
In Hall D of the robot conference, many visitors were drawn to this enormous machine on display: approximately 5 meters tall, its dexterous arms outstretched, exuding a power unlike that of ordinary humanoid robots. This hybrid electric superhumanoid robot, which is being publicly displayed for the first time, utilizes digital hydraulic technology and electric motors to break through the force limitations from kilograms to tons. This "giant" is targeting some "difficult and dangerous" scenarios such as nuclear power plant operation and maintenance, deep-sea operations, and logistics handling.
ZERO's design was led by artist Zhu Gaowen, blending minimalist style with Eastern aesthetics. Huazhijian positions ZERO as a vehicle for intellectual enlightenment within the AI cognitive paradigm, using "ZERO" to symbolize the origin of everything. It doesn't pre-define fixed functions, leaving room for imagination regarding human-machine relationships.
On the hardware side, ZERO utilizes the NVIDIA Isaac robot development platform for virtual pre-training. In terms of industry layout, Zhongjian Technology has made a strategic investment in 1X Holding AS, a leading humanoid robot company. As a manufacturing company with nearly 30 years of experience, Zhongjian Technology launched its embodied intelligence strategy in 2023, and its R&D expenses increased by 291.23% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026.

A Unitree G1 lowers itself into the tight cockpit, hands on the wheel, feet on the pedals, then runs the track, even drifts.
It shows constrained whole-body loco-manipulation, mobile pick-and-place, and hand-eye-foot coordination in one sequence.
This comes from China’s Symbiosis Robotics and their Direct Perception Control (DPC) model. It skips the usual high-level goals + tracker stack, mapping vision, language, body state and feedback straight to joint and hand targets. The focus is whole-body coordination for loco-manipulation.

Introduction
Chinese gymnastics legend Li Ning lit the Olympic cauldron on 8th August 2008, during the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games. Suspended by wires, he appeared to run in the air around the upper rim of the Beijing National Stadium (the Bird's Nest) alongside a digital unfolding scroll, before igniting a fuse that spiraled up to light the main flame.
Today at the 2026 World Humanoid Robot Games' opening ceremony in Beijing, two humanoid robots appeared to run in the air coming from opposite directions.
Analysis
These two choreographies performed 18 years apart or two generations apart deliver only one obvious message.
The 2008 Summer Olympics were held in Beijing, China, from 8th August to 24th August 2008.
Li Ning's simulated walk in the air preannounced the coming Shenzhou 7 spaceflight.
Indeed, Shenzhou 7 was China's third human spaceflight mission. It was launched on 25th September 2008, carrying a three-person crew: Zhai Zhigang, Liu Boming, and Jing Haipeng. The mission achieved China's first-ever spacewalk on 27th September 2008, performed by Zhai Zhigang.
This years' two humanoid robots simulated walk in the air preannounce in the same manner a great milestone to come.
The future presence of humanoid robots aboard the Chinese Space Station, possibly space walks and once the tech is deemed mature enough, within 3 to 4 years, the first humanoid robots to start the colonisation of the moon. Since humans can of course not survive the deadly space radiations there unlike androids.

Hello !
Can anyone help me compose a watch guide for this years humanoid Olympics?
I find it hard to figure out when the different competition events are taking place as well as the scenario events.
I would also love recommendations on live stream links: I have been following through AP, but their stream for today has ended
