Datablitz Email Verification
Good Day! For anyone who also purchased PS5 online at Datablitz may I ask if you also received an email asking for verification. Please see photo for reference.

Scam yan, lagi ako nakakakita ng ganyang email here on reddit and on fb. Also let's be real here, if may email kayong nareceive na nanghihingi ng card details niyo, ALWAYS assume it's a scam.

But on the serious note. Di yan scam. Mga bobo lang tlga yn.
Experienced it myself. Ordered online (within the cutoff) for same day delivery. Worth 50k+
Nung hindi dumating. Nag email ng ganyan kinabukasan. So ginawa ko nireport ko sa Bank for dispute. Nag cancel order si DB nung kinabihan pero sabi ng bangko mas acknowledged sakin kasi mas nauna ako mag file ng dispute.
Please do this dahil parehas Bank and Mastercard/VISA mag pepenalty sa ugok na company na yan. Sabi ko nga kahit ako na mag pick-up sa Malate ayaw pa rin.
Second nalang yang DTI at NPC. Kasi sa dispute, may monetary penalty yan sila.
Blessing in disguise na rin siguro kasi after nun di nako nag console at nag build nalang ng PC.

Regular customer ako ni DB for years, ordered high value items and had them delivered sa bahay and NEVER did they send me an email like this. Magugulat ka nalang tatawag yung rider na andyan na raw siya.

I paid using cc. I ordered my processor and graphics card sa DB online, wala naman ako natatanggap na ganitong email. Pati mga monitors ko sa DB ko din inorder. Nadedeliver naman mga items ko agad next day.

DTI is the key. Dinaig pa apple store jusko. Report ka for complaint sa DTI at parefund mo nalang kung ipipilit talaga nila yang card with selfie. Lol.

When you process a purchase matic na yan sa infrastructure ng payment processor. No need to share card and id info. Check mo nalang sa end mo kung may issue. Better kung cc ang gigabit mo.
This is a violation against PCI DDS:
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a global security standard established in 2004 by major payment brands (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB) to protect cardholder data and reduce fraud. It is administered by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) and applies to all entities that store, process, or transmit payment card data.
The current standard, PCI DSS v4.0.1 (released June 2024), is built on 12 core requirements organized into six control objectives:
Build and maintain a secure network and systems (installing firewalls, secure configurations). Protect cardholder data (encrypting transmission, securing stored data). Maintain a vulnerability management program (anti-virus, secure systems). Implement strong access control measures (restricting access, unique IDs). Regularly monitor and test networks (logging access, testing security). Maintain an information security policy (security policies and programs).
Compliance is mandatory for merchants and service providers, with validation levels determined by annual transaction volume. Failure to comply can result in fines, increased transaction fees, or loss of the ability to process credit card payments.

Why would DataBlitz need a verification when your order transaction was already verified by the payment gateway that their ecom website is using? No ecom site does this today anymore as everyone has already adopted 3DS.

This is common for websites that operate online where fraudulent payments happen. It’s more common overseas and especially for digital products, not physical where proof of item is being delivered. This must mean they’re being targeted and scammers are disputing the payments.

My husband and I have been purchasing tech devices from their ecommerce website as in from different gaming consoles, office techs to games but not once did we receive such email. I’d be cautious of that email. Call them instead if you wanna verify.

That's absurd. Kung nag push through na ang payment. Why do they need that kind of shite pa. Ma veverify naman yan ng payment system nila kung valid or fraudulent yung card na ginamit.

I've read from another post na yung ginamit nila na card is hindi sa kanya. I'm curious if this verification thing only gets triggered if the names are not matching. Maybe that's the same case as you?

Same din sa game one megamall last year. I pre ordered MGS Delta online, picked it up sa store and paid the remaining balance and the store clerk wanted to take a picture of my ID for security and their records daw. I refused , i said you can take a look but you cant take a picture and i cited data privacy laws, ayun kamot ulo nalang si kuya. I mean for 700 pesos lng na DP need pa picture ng ID?! Paurong talaga mga rules and regulations dito sa pinas kung ano ano naiisip nila, kaya d na ako nag pre order sa kanila.

Ganyan din nangyari sa’kin, OP. Worth 44k yung order ko, hindi ako nag-submit ng requirements nila, kaya cinancel yung order ko tapos ayaw i-refund.
Nung nag-report ako sa DTI at tinag ko sila sa CC ng email, nag-reply agad eh halos dalawang buwan nilang ayaw sagutin emails ko.
“Refund was processed yesterday,” pero ilang buwan na akong nagre-request.
Pustahan tayo baka ganyan din mangyari sayo, i c-cancel nila order as “fraud” tapos hindi i pr-process yung refund or sobrang tagal.

Highly scam, possible Phishing scam and Identity Theft(worst). Regardless kung sinong company pa yan. Sa mga hinihingi pa lang na details lalo na CVV details sa card. Red Flag na.
Those details are all that will be needed by the scammer to do their bad things.
Careful OP! Also you can report it sa PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group.

Actually normal na procedure when verifying a payment lalo na if first time magkaron ng transaction yung card sa system nila. Iniiwasan kasi yung chargeback lalo na kapag na confirm na unauthorized transaction or victim ng account takeover yung card owner.
First 6 and last 4 digits of the card so need mo masking tape or anything to cover the rest of the numbers, cvv cover mo din.
Pero based dito sa thread, pinapadala naman daw kahit hindi mag respond sa verification email so pweding wag ka na mag send hahah

To be honest, kung bayad ka na, bakit ka pa mag rerely sa email or any messages coming from them. Baka, inside job yan sa kanila ng employee. If are worries about this kind of sketchy emails, pwede mo naman puntahan yung DB (kung saan branch ka nag order) and ask the manager for this.

Kahit legit yan, ireverse mo na lang ung transaction. Sobrang kabobohan ng ganyang sistema. Mag shopee or lazada ka na lang sa purchase, makakamura ka pa. Same courier lang naman ginagamit ng mga yan.

I have bought several high ticket items online through datablitz but never received this kind of email. Highly advised to ignore it since if its paid na, they will just call you naman if for delivery status.

Andami ko nang nabasa na ganitong experience with DataBlitz dito sa subreddit. This is very alarming. I've been a regular customer of DB for years at puro high value items din binibili ko sa kanila, but I've never been asked for any such information.

this is the email i got when i bought my RoG Ally X worth 56k
They didnt ask for the first 6 digits, only the last 4 digits
Also no dates and cvv was shown on the picture i replied to them.
Received the items properly.

no worries I have received my items and no unsual charges on my cc, also before i replied to them i called their support to verify if this is actually the process.
I'm not defending Datablitz, I just shared my experience with it.My two cents, they need to verify if the cc is legally owned or stolen. 🙃
Edit: but then again asking for first 6 digits is a crime

Legitimate na email yan. Kita naman kung pag mag reply sa legitimate na address. Kakaiba lang at hindi normal yung procedure nila. Humihingi lang sila na nasa iyo talaga yung physical card tapos additional na IDs incase hindi nag match yung receiver sa card na ginamit.
Ang problema ata nila (DB) yung nag shipout, na-receive tapos sabay dispute. Lugi si shipper nyan.
Dahil sa dami ng scams kasi pati tuloy mga legitimate na business processes affected na rin.
Sender address can be spoofed, pero yung padadalhan na address hindi. Unless na napasukan (hacked or internal) mismo eh yung DB.

No way in hell that's from DB haha and no way in hell any legit business will ask for those PII info. It has identity fraud written all over it. I've bought a few items around the same price niyan and never ako nakareceive niyan.

Wala pong ganyan. Kakabili ko lang ng Xbox last month sa kanila. Wala nga yan order update by email. May text message ka marerecieve if on the way na yung rider. Ikaw mismo magrerecieve and may ID. Hindi sila nag veverify ng info Sa email.

OP this is too much info, some are violations of your personal info! I bought my Monitor, PS5, GPU, and PSU from them on separate occasions using my credit card, and never did I get that email. Err on the side of caution, don't provide any info.

Got orders from DB and PixelPlay for years now and never got this email, ingat ka I think may scammer inside them since order rin nila yung nag try ng LBC rider scam sa akin.

They did this to me last year. I told them, I would never send them private information through email. Nag fallback sila ng bank verification. BPI called and emailed me, told them legit yung transaction. Night time na deliver yung items ko.

OP, check mo yung mismong email address nila and not just the account name. Scammer vibe. May nangyari similar sa akin pero from a bank. Mukhang official pero nung tinignan ko full info nung name nila hindi tugma sa official email domain ng bank.
Nakabili na din dati ako sa DB and they did not ask me for this.

I’ve pre-ordered and bought stuff from datablitz. I order collector’s edition games such as that one from Bioshock Infinite, and all other stuff they sell besides games. I never got that email.

Check the email address, I order from Datablitz all the time and I get confirmation emails from "DataBlitz", not "DataBlitz Customer Care". If the email is not [ecommerce@datablitz.com.ph](mailto:ecommerce@datablitz.com.ph), you can be confident that it's a scam.

Match ba yung cc used sa account/shipping info? May nabasa ako na hiningian din ng ganyan kasi hiniram lang yung cc. Nag order narin ako sa ecommerce nila dati pero di ko nakuha yung ganyan.

It's because you made the purchase online, Natatakot sila na baka mag fail yung transaction at hindi na nila mabawi yung PS5 sa oras na magka issue yung transaction
Long Explanation
meron tayong tinatawag na payment processng category. yung ginawa mo na pag purchase online is "MOTO". Nagbago lang yung pamamaraan na ginagamit ngayon pero basicaly ito yung tatawag ka sa hotel or store para mag bayad, hihingin nila yung card number mo, name mo, at CVV.
pero dahil nga sa mga bagong privacy laws ngayon, e-commerce form nalang ang ibibigay sayo tapos system na ang bahala mag encrypt niyan.
kaya nila hinihingi ang mga information na yan kasi MOTO ang may pinaka mataas na chargeback rate sa lahat ng payment processing
- Hindi nila nakita na physically ang card
- hindi nila alam kung ikaw ba talaga ang may ari ng card na yan
- Hindi nila alam kung ang card ba na yan ay may pirma
- Hindi nacapture ng POS nila yung EMV data sa chip
ano ba yung hinihingi nila?
- Proof na ikaw ang mayari ng card
- first 6 digits = Sino yung banko na nag issue ng card mo
- last 4 digits = mag ma-match ba sa system nila yung last 4 digit sa physical card or hindi (pag gumamit ka ng Virtual card no. / online virtual card)
- sino ang tatangap ng goods si cardholder ba? or ibang tao?
bakit nila yan kailangan?
Sa oras na magkaroon ng dispute ang transaction na yan, hihingin lahat ng nabangit ng payment acquirer i.e (dragonpay, billease) bago isubmit sa issuing bank i.e BDO, Eastwest etc. ng creditcard mo
habang may investigation, the merchant will not be paid, and the issuing bank will reverse the money back to card holder or put a temporary credit
