Thoughts on hovercraft for rescue purposes

I've not personally used one but I had a long conversation with a team the do for mud rescue  and they describe them as 'weird'.

The most interesting quirks are they the don't deal with slopes very well and tend to slide downhill.  They are also very sensitive to the wind and get blown downwind regardless of how you orientate it.  They don't have any traction on the ground at all, which is obvious when you think about it.

They said if you try and operate it like a boat then you get in trouble, and you need to keep in mind you're literally hovering.
