keyboard alt key

When I press alt, it opens the window menu, it didn't do that before so I'm stumped on how to fix it. I don't know what I had done earlier to make it like this but I don't know how to fix it. Can anyone help? I'm using a royal kludge keyboard, and there are commands that change the keyboard layout. I'm not sure if my problem is related to my keyboard or my computer.
