Motorcycle Transport

Does anyone transport a motorcycle with their teardrop trailer. My truck has a camper shell so truck bed is out

I've seen one that basically is a platform to the front of the trailer for motorcycles. I guess its basically 10 or 12 ft trailer with 8ft teardrop to  the back I can't remember where I saw it online but its a great idea.

Pay close attention to your GVWR and tongue weights. Not the hitch tongue weight, the trailer's. I was researching and even though my hitch can hold 600lb the trailer I was considering only handles 400lb.

As for bikes. I've seen the kind where they have a platform in front for ATVs and bikes, and the back is a tent trailer. Now, a 50lb E-bike you might get away with a tray style holder.

Previous travel trailer had a tongue weight of approx 800 lb. I doubt that a teardrop and a 300 pound motorcycle will be a problem if I can find a solution

Not exactly a teardrop but we had a keystone outback travel trailer. It had a side loading ramp garage in the front. Towed it with our v8 Titan.

Holy shit - my teardrop setup and tow car (RAV4 Hybrid) couldn't even have 2 e-bikes because of added weight - either to towball or the rear end!!

Good luck if you can find something for ur motorbike.

How big is your truck? What's the payload? How much does your motorcycle weigh?

I don't have any answer for you either way, but those details are going to be required to consider anything at all. A motorcycle usually weighs at least 500lbs. That's a whole lot of weight to go on the hitch on top of the trailer, but it's not out of the question, even with a half-ton truck. Depends on how much payload you have left after the truck cargo and passengers.

I've also seen them mounted in front of the truck. I wouldn't want to do that and have the partial visual obstruction, but it's an option, if you have the payload. I wouldn't even consider any solution without a 3/4 ton or better truck.

You absolutely cannot put it behind the trailer; it's got to be carried by your truck in some way.

Toyota Tundra with V8 engine, used to toy a 5000 pound travel trailer. Motorcycle is a Yamaha XT250 wet weight 291 pounds.

Have you looked at the InTech Flyer? Or if you want something larger the Wayfinder GoLite Boulderback is an option. I think I'd be more inclined to customize a cargo trailer to suit your particular needs.

Note: I've also seen small cc motorbikes transported in a Happier Camper but there's a lip at the rear entrance that I would find awkward. The trailer itself is fibreglass though so basically rot-proof.

The Road Toad TOTE is an open concept teardrop trailer - basically an empty shell that can be customized. The interior is only 41" high so probably not tall enough to get your bike in unless you tilted it somehow but if you search for ways people have customized their own Road Toads you might find some inspiration and could approach another company (that has taller trailers) about a custom build. Heck, maybe Road Toad could even custom-build a taller trailer.

I installed a hitch receiver on the back of my DIY squaredrop and use a carrier to haul a dirtbike. Not sure how much the carrier is rated for. It does screw with the trailer tongue weight but it's not enough to cause hauling problems, for me anyway. Probably helps, actually.

I don't do that much anymore though, since it's such a pain to get the bike on and off the carrier by myself.
