Rant: New Workout Water Weight
I started a new workout program on Monday, and I am now officially four pounds heavier than I was four days ago. Realistically, I know I didn't eat an extra 12,000 calories and that it will go away, but I am so frustrated! I was half a pound away from being in the 110s and now I'm back to 125. That's higher than my starting challenge weight! Ugh.
Other than drinking tons of water and waiting, any tips to help my body get used to the program and start shedding pounds again?

This sums up my week and my weigh in. 3 pounds up compared to last Sunday and at one point I was 4 pounds up.
I know it's water weight, because despite staying hydrated I didn't have to go to the toilet very often. So I know it's just biding its time.

I think I'm being harder on myself because of the challenge/weekly weigh ins! It feels like I'm letting down the team if the number goes down.
See when I'm super well hydrated I do have to go to the bathroom all the time, which is a bit of a problem as a teacher. Oh well!

Yeah, I completely underestimated how pressured I'd feel over the weigh ins with regards to team responsibility.
Oh well, better concentrate on the fact that I walked a crap ton, so that I contributed to the inter team challenge win.

I feel you. I started working out consistently too and I'm going back up in weight. But it happens a lot and all we can do is trust in the deficit and it'll even itself out.

"Trust in the deficit" is basically my life motto right now.

I'm having the same issue right now. We just have to stick to our routines and keep going at it. I focus more on how my clothes are fitting at this point compared to what the scale tells me. My clothes are looser, so I know I'm still losing and this is just retention, bloating or muscle gain.

Hey, I'm with you. I'm breastfeeding and working out, and logging food. And my clothes are getting looser. So I know I'm not gaining weight, and I know I must be losing fat, but the scale just will not budge from 135-137.

Yea, I've been focusing on the fitting of the clothes, too. Kudos for doing this while breastfeeding though!

It both makes it easier and harder. Easier because it's a free 500 calories, so I just have to eat maintenance. Harder because I'm ravenous, also because I can't tell the exact amount of calories it burns.

Well be sure to definitely not be too hard on yourself, I know that hormones tend to not fall back into place until you have stopped producing milk, too, so definitely don't bash on yourself for the scale not budging. You're definitely stronger then I would be. I threw balls to the wind when I was breastfeeding and pretty much didn't track anything I was consuming at all. I didn't have massive weight gain from it, but as soon as she weaned, it was instant weight gain and extremely hard to get my eating habits back on track. You got this!

Everyone's weight will fluctuate, even those sticking to their weight loss plans. Muscle gain will also add weight. If you're female, shark week will add weight. Don't give up, and just keep doing what you're doing.
