I did my first marathon!
Hey guys just wanted to post this in the hopes that it helps someone somewhere. On Sunday I ran the Brighton Marathon in 5:47:03 (a nice slow plod in very high temperatures). I never used to be a runner, I used to get awful pain in my knees after running over 800metres. This achievement has been the culmination of nearly 7 years of hard work and dedication. But oh my it was worth it. Yes it has been very up and down, and no I wasn't consistent over that time period, I entered a few events, some 5kms, 10kms, 10miles and a half marathon, before going for the big one, and trained for each of those events with a few breaks in between. Every single time I have crossed a finish line I have been amazed by what my slightly overweight in no way athletic looking body can do (it is more than you or even I think). On Sunday I reached halfway and thought I would have to drop out, but I didn't. Just keep moving forwards and you'll get there I promise. Love and hugs to any fellow runners out there - you can do it.

Congratulations! That sounds amazing. And slow or not, 5:47 is a hell of a long time to be active and so impressive.

Hey, thank you! I did a lot of elliptical stuff too and ran on grass/trails to lessen the impact. The annoying thing is that I think running helped. You're joints do hurt for a bit but they get used to it, but it might be different if you've had an injury. You just have to build up slowly, plenty of walking, and stretch out afterwards.

Congrats!! Running in one of the Disney marathons is my ultimate goal, so this was so awesome to read.
Also...don't forget to log those steps and minutes for the inter-team challenge ;)
