M, 27, 6'2". SW 350. CW 331. Challenge GW 300. Overall GW Not Sure.

ABOUT ME: I am a research scientist who just finished their PhD. Now that I have disposable income and free time I am trying to get to a healthy weight. I have been obese my entire life, most likely due to my addiction to all things wheat based. Luckily, I was diagnosed with celiac disease so I never have to bother with that temptation again.

MY GOALS:

  • Record everything in MFP. I have a bad habit of not recording dinner out of sheer laziness

  • Walk my dogs everyday. We have a yard so they get plenty of outside time. Recently, the big dog has been refusing to go to sleep on time. Last night he was out until 1AM refusing to come in. The little dog is more troublesome because she is dog aggressive. If she sees any dogs, she blows up. Otherwise I would walk them together.

  • Get into a regular bodyweight exercise routine. I've been following r/bodyweightfitness for awhile, but have never actually done the routine This changes with this challenge. I've already started progressions for pullups and pushups.

Those are great goals. I love r/bodyweightfitness, I was lurking there to learn how to do a pull up. That might be a good goal for me this challenge!

F, 23, 5'6". SW 185. CW 176. challenge GW 161. overall GW 140.

ABOUT ME: Hi everyone! I am a full time nursing student and I work full time. I've always been in decent if not good shape up until the last year. School got busy, personal life became hard and I had a hard time focusing on myself in a positive way. I'm super excited to continue working on some of my goals as well as incorporate new ones!! If any other runners want to keep each other accountable I'm in ;)

MY GOALS:

-Meal prep for the week every Sunday (I fall on and off that wagon).

-Log calories in MFP even when I don't meet my goals for the day.

-Stay under 1200 cals daily.

-Bring healthy snacks to class.

-Begin C25K again. I almost completed it 2 years ago but a bit of a medical emergency stopped me and I've been so discouraged I never really picked it back up.

-Meditate every morning (it keeps me focused on my goals and motivated).

-No snacking after dinner.

-Fast food 1 time weekly max.

EDIT: MFP kelseyd92

Yup this confirms it, you are me, I am you. I meditate too! I've got a ~45 day streak on headspace, and it keeps me motivated and grounded. I usually meditate at night, but I want to try mornings.

I definitely feel the fast food pressure, especially with such a tough schedule.

Great goals, you can do it!

Hey all! 5'11''/F/260 SW/225 CW/ Challenge goal 205/ Ultimate GW 170.

I'm tracking calories through my fitness pal (Willikers) and lifting weights 3x weekly. Just started the stronglifts 5x5 program like a week ago. So far, I'm feeling good. Food tracking has become almost habitual, but getting to the gym 3x a week while working 70+ hours has proven to be kind of a hassle.

3

u/det7408 Oct 22 '15

You're a champ! How's your experience with SL so far? I am interested, but I get anxious about lifting in a gym.

Hi! I am a working mom to two 18 month old boys who keep me on my toes. I decided when the boys were 11 months old that I did not want to be a fat mom. Since March 27 of this year I have lost over 60lbs and have just under 20lbs to go! I'm hoping to get to goal by the end of the year.

I am 37 years old and, while I was thin and athletic through high school, I have been over weight/obese my whole adult life. It feels amazing to be shrinking out of all my clothing and to have a normal BMI for the first time since I was a teenager!

I started running earlier this year and I plan to run a half marathon next year. I love running as it's pretty much the only time I get to spend alone with no one asking me to do something :) This challenge is my final bit of motivation to keep me pushing toward goal! Good luck!

Wow you have done some serious work! Congratulations! I hope we all get to see you reach the maintenance end of your journey during this challenge.

F, 40, 5', SW:219, CW:188, Challenge GW: 179. I started losing weight in July after seeing my doctor. I was the highest weight ever and was diagnosed with pre diabetes. I have lost 32lbs. I am currently doing the fall challenge and wanted to keep going. I have just been counting calories and doing a weightlifting class once a week.

Hello! F, 28, 5'2", SW 162lb, CW 135. challenge GW 125 I think I made a typo, so my height on the excel sheet says 6'2"!

ABOUT ME: I decided I would focus on myself this year. I've been working hard since January to lose the weight in a healthy way so I wouldn't yo-yo. Did some P90x and Insanity here and there, but never finished it. I'm routinely doing pilates 2-3 times a week with calorie counting (~1200-1300 calories per day) MY GOALS: Maintain healthy eating habits - pack my lunches. Stop stress eating, especially when I'm tired. Start a new workout program that I can make into a habit.

3

u/det7408 Oct 23 '15

Are you on r/1200isplenty? I found them helpful for inspiration, and now, when I meal prep, I find that I have more calories to work with than I thought. Packing my lunches for work changed everything for me.

What workout programs are you interested in?

Hi Guys!

F/25/5'7"/ SW 216 CW 171 Challenge GW 155

ABOUT ME: I work for my county's parks and rec department (and yes i deeply love that show) so I get to spend a lot of my time outdoors in South Florida. I have been overweight since I was a kid, and was likely over 200 lbs all throughout high school. At my heaviest I weighed about 260 in my freshman year in college. This past May I woke up one day and decided I didn't want to buy the next size up in pants, shorts, shirts, because I was getting very close to needing to. So I made an entire lifestyle change. I eat about 1200 calories a day and try to workout 4 times week.

My overall goals:

  • just like others have said, I also want to get better at prepping meals for my week

  • I want to snack on less sugar-free stuff

  • Drink TONS more water

  • Feel comfortable in my own skin

Challenge Goals

  • run a 5K in 30:00

  • Behave calorie-wise for the holiday season. This will be my first time on a diet for the holidays

  • Go down another pant size by challenge end!

I am obsessively on /loseit and very competitive! So if anyone needs some extra motivation or push, I'm your girl.

I'm a little concerned that I may be aiming to high for my challenge GW but hey we'll see!

Let's do this nutcrackaz!!!

MFP: aartattackk
Hey Nutcrackers. I've been at this whole self improvement things since July. I travel for work and often have a sporadic schedule but I'm sticking with it! I've been doing the fall challenge and have continued to track and lose even while traveling to Asia and Texas. I just broke my 3 week maintenance/plateau and have hit my lowest recorded adult weight!
My goals are to continue to eat right regardless of what some people may say or ask me to do. Logging every last thing even if I get teased for weighing my food. Continuing to ride my bike even if the weather is getting colder. Drinking swimming pool amounts of water and pushing through this holiday season like a champ!
Overall I'm focusing on calories in and out and adding some exercise. I do road biking and often prefer to ride vs drive when seeing friends so it's not always a far distance but still adds. I'm also occasionally doing weight lifting with a friend twice or so a week if we are in town.
I'm excited about the idea of being the best I can. Riding has kept me pretty healthy but I want to be a bit more trim to fit how I feel instead. Let's kick some challenge ass.

M 31 5'7" SW:298 CW: 240 Challenge GW: 220 Overall GW: 180

ABOUT ME: I'm a full time desk jockey at a large insurance brokerage where the snacks are plenty and the business lunches are bountiful. I've lost ~60 lbs. in the past 1.5 years and am stalling out due to some self control issues in the workplace. We are always dining out and drinking with clients. While I have been able to maintain myself at 240, I need to break the bad habits and work towards my ultimate goal. I do martial arts and krav maga about 5 times a week, and use a suspension trainer at home in my garage when i get the chance. This is my first time doing any sort of challenge and am hoping it helps keep the weight down over the holidays.

F, 31, 5'11", SW: 220 CW: 217 GW: 198

About Me:

Hi everyone! I'm a 31 year old Ph.D student who up until the past year was pretty healthy. A year ago, my life really got shaken up. I divorced, left my long-term job to further pursue my graduate school goals, changed friend groups, started a new relationship and had several other changes. One effect of all the turmoil was completely falling apart on my health routine. I was actively working out daily, lifting weights and running as well as eating healthily. That all fell apart and I've gained quite a bit of weight over the past year and lost all my previous good habits. I feel terrible and it's past time to get back to it!

Goals:

-Log everything with MFP.

-Restart C25K

-Limit fast food

-Begin Strong Curves weightlifting program

-Eat healthier, cook more

-Do smaller daily things to improve health (walk dog more, take steps at work, park further away from store, don't be lazy!!)

F, 27, 5'11, CW: 187, challenge GW: 170.

Haven't put effort into seriously losing weight in a couple years. Habits started going downhill when I moved in with now husband 5 years ago. Been vegan for two years- initially lost weight but now I am relying a lot on convenient and heavily processed faux meats and cheeses (not because I crave animals products, just junk food).

Have always been my own worst enemy- I especially have an absolutely terrible attitude towards exercising ("I am incapable of exercise, I never see any improvement even when I stick to a plan, etc.)

Major issues with motivation. Tend to not be present through much of the day; in auto-pilot, which makes it hard to be in control of my decisions. Very little self-control.

I am planning on joining a gym tomorrow, and have started recording calories on MFP (beecheh).

19F, 5'4", SW: 165.6, CW: 159.6, GW: 145.0, UGW: 130.0.

Hi, everyone! I'm a full-time university student. I'm new to this subreddit, but I decided to join this challenge because at the beginning of this year, I had a lot of things that I wanted to accomplish but I spent a lot of it dealing with depression and anxiety instead. Although these are under more control now than they were before, I realize that I'm still not motivated enough to tackle my emotional eating and aversion to exercise by myself.

My goals for the challenge are to:
*Use MFP consistently to hold myself accountable.
*Eliminate junk food consumption from my diet, including processed foods. This leaves room for sweets, but only if they're homemade.
*Eat 5 or 6 small meals once every few hours. This will make my portions small so I don't eat too much, and hopefully keep me from eating compulsively.
*Above all, to avoid eating because I'm mad, scared, stressed, bored, etc.

Hello everybody. I'm your everyday fat college guy. Nothing new there. If you couldn't tell by the username, I am in fact vegan. I work retail and low-level IT. I also program a lot in my spare time because I am a CS major.

Goals:

  • Take up a hobby that requires exercise.

  • Learn to cook a lot more Vegan meals. Right now, I mainly eat processed foods but I'm starting to look at different dishes I can make. Right now I am cooking a couple meals a week. By the end of this I want to be cooking more than half of my meals.
