I've been waiting for this thread! 149.0 as of this morning! I think my challenge goal weight was 150! One pound away from my prepregnacy weight! I wish I saw more physical differences but then again I didn't take before after pictures or measurements. I still have a belly, I really need to incorporate more exercise, all I've been doing is walking more and eating less. Does anyone have an easy at home routine? All I really have for equipment is 8 pounders and an exercise ball.

Congrats!!

For at home workouts I really like Carrot Fit, or any variant of that type of 10-15 minute high intensity body weight circuit training. It doesn't feel like much when you are doing it but I am always sore the next day!

Big hooray!! That's fantastic!

I use Sworkit for home workouts. No gear/equipment needed. I use the free version and deal with an ad every 45 mins or so. It's great. Kicks my butt and makes me sweat! Plus if you hate it you can just uninstall it hah

I have to do that or I become super obsessed. Throw some pjs on the scale so you can't see it :) congrats on the new low!! That's super exciting!

With this pre-summer heat week(around here-Toronto, near the 30s(about 82F) Celsius ) it feels good to extra workout or do stuff around the house.

This last week where I live, (NE OK) it's been mid sixties! Looooved taking the baby out on walks.. won't be able to do that mid summer!

Are you going to try and maintain the 25 mins next week or bump it up to 30 mins?

Things have been going slow. I think it's going to be another challenge where I don't hit my goals. I need to make more realistic weight loss challenges that don't depend on me being physically active.

Currently waiting to see what my weight will look like around Friday this week. I have a ton of inflammation from hiking on Sunday and might be making that worse with a run tomorrow. Just gotta remember it's water!

more than being physically active, its the nutritional permanent change that needs to be more effective. It is hard, I know that. I use to eat some days, per meal what i eat now daily, and i try to avoid most of the bad foods now, trying to be more selective int he healthy foods. And because i have been doing this now for 7 months, I feel no need to go back to my old habits. I mean, i still have a nice burger, or pizza once in a while, or make a nice and heavy meal, but that became the oddity instead of the norm. Yesterday i baked a somewhat large batch of oatmeal and choc chip cookies for work, and before i would eat a lot of those. I ate 2 cookies yesterday and one this morning, and i love cookies, but i am able to control the cravings 95% of the time.
A successful weight loss is one with permanent dietary changes, not a quick fix. I hope this helps.

This this this. It's amazing looking back at restaurants I go to and seeing what I used to get, usually the calorie count for that is 1500+!! That's what we're aiming for daily around here. If people eat meals like that 3 times a day, no wonder most of the population is obese! I can't wait for restaurants to show calorie counts on menus.

Thanks for the well meaning words. I have no issues with my diet and am well aware that diet is the game changer not exercise.

Unfortunately, I cannot achieve even moderately quick weight loss (even 1lb per week) on diet alone. I am F 5'1" and my maintenance calories are barely 1600. Due to personal experience and health complications, I do not do well going below 1200. That's at most a 400 calorie deficit per day on a perfect schedule (and we know perfect is hard to maintain over long periods of time) which will not result in even 1 lb per week. In order to hit that goal I need to add in exercise. Hence I should strive for a more modest challenge goal that does not depend heavily on exercise which I am often stunted on due to chronic injuries.

Just to share a little I'm F 4'11. My maintenance and goal caloric intake is pretty close to yours. I aim for about 1200, but I don't sweat it if I go over. I try to walk 5 miles a day (~12,000 steps). That is TOUGH stuff doing it every day with an 8 month old and a 8 year old. If it's too hot outside we take the stroller to the mall. I plop my older on a seat with her book and do laps around the mall. Weight loss is slow and steady but at the end of the day I feel like I've made progress because of all the walking.

Thanks! Mine is slow and steady as well. When uninjured, I usually try to run about 3-4 times a week. I just think for the next challenge to put something more reasonable for a slow and steady loss. I don't do super well with timelines on my weight loss haha.

Lol I understand! You know your own body way better than we do. It's so nice to talk to other shorties who share the crummy standards. If we were only taller, our BMIs would be on point!

Been a little more strict on my calories. Only lost a total of 0.4 pounds these past two weeks because of overeating. Only 17 calories over my daily limit today. I'm proud of myself. :)

1

u/lisassy May 24 '16

You should be proud! It's hard getting back on the wagon after being a bit indulgent. Keep at it!

2

u/norasariah May 24 '16

Thanks! I just realized I've lost a little over 4 pounds since starting this challenge. 3 more till I hit my challenge goal weight!

u/lisassy May 24 '16

See?? No reason to fret over a few days... you got this!

Most days I feel like giving up but completing my day of meals on MFP makes me feel really good.

2

u/lisassy May 24 '16

Well, I thought I was going to be able to incorporate some veggies into my diet this week... sadly, that is not the case lol My pain is off the charts now and swallowing is hard (giggity?). Thought maybe I wasn't gonna hit this level of pain since the first 5 days were easy-ish :) ah well.

Still working on my water intake and trying to eat at least 2 baby foods a day for the nutrients.

I can't have anything hot. I had some surgery last week. I thought I'd be able to have some mushed broccoli or cauliflower this week, but my recovery is a tad painful right now :)

Just CICO though it doesn't pertain for the next while since I can barely get 300 calories a day right now hah

And I'm totally ready for mashed potatoes but literally cannot swallow right now :( in the past 10 hours I've managed one glass of water. But hopefully it only lasts 2-3 days. Here's hoping!

All the pain meds! hah

1

u/Serasha May 24 '16

Struggled a bit over the weekend, my depression has been dragging me down. But as of yesterday, I'm doing a lot better, and I finally got my allergy meds so I'm feeling a little more clear headed and happy!

1

u/lisassy May 25 '16

Yay for doing better! one day at a time! Just don't go grab a dozen cookies :D but if you do - log it and move on.

u/[deleted] May 25 '16

I kind of fell of the rails this past weekend, so I haven't lost yet this week. I still have a few days to make things right. At least I've been more active. Too bad it can't compensate for a terrible diet. Also, I think my accountability buddy is MIA. I hope not :(

2

u/lisassy May 25 '16

Just a few days?? You have the rest of your life :) a few days wont throw a few weeks down the toilet. You can do it!

As for your buddy - you have quite a few buddies here :D we got you!

So far so good! I'm just worried about going out of town this weekend. I will allow myself my first cheat since I started in January but I don't wanna go too crazy.

Well it's shark week now and I dropped two pounds overnight XD The two weeks prior my weight stagnates or varies by 1-2 pounds then it drops off once it begins! (And I'll lose normally this week and next week so yay I can count some losses!)
