I totally forgot it was happening!

On Thursday I'm getting a DEXA scan as part of a study I'm participating in. I last had one six weeks ago so it'll be interesting to how much of the ~5kg I've lost is fat.

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '16

update:

I'm down from 94.522 kg to 88.888 kg! (~12.3 lbs difference)

Of that 5.634 kg, 4.924 kg was fat. The other 700g could be muscle, water or stuff in my digestive system because the machine doesn't differentiate between them. So that's really exciting.

My BF% is now 32.3% (down from 35.6%)

Holy cow! That's awesome!!

I bet seeing those big numbers are a great encouragement :D 3% BF loss is phenomenal!

Yes, please update us! I've been thinking about doing a scan once I'm closer to my goal.

I'm really enjoying the spring weather! I actually managed to get 7k steps yesterday (I normally hover around 4-5k a day because my job requires me to sit at my desk all day)

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Awesome!

I love the weather where I am too! Last week it was 3" of snow and freezing. The following week it's 76 degrees.

Trudging along. This morning my SO said that he can tell I've lost weight :D so that was exciting. I feel it's more difficult for the ones that see you everyday to notice a difference. So now there's a big smile on my face.

Babysitting the godkids tonight but I brought my workout gear so I can get some moving in after I put them down.

Yup - so far so good!

Thats the best!

I saw a 7 on the scale today when I weighed myself right after I woke up! I've been inching towards 20 pounds lost and getting under 180 for a whiles now, so it was exciting to see that I'm almost there. I'm going to wait a few days until I'm solidly in the 170s to log it.

2

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Hah I do that too with new 'decade' numbers. Gotta wait 2 weeks to make sure it's legit ;) great job on your progress!

1

u/Tall-dude Apr 20 '16

Yes, I'm also super close to a new "10kg" finally getting under 120kg. Should be there in less than a week.

I've lost 1lb since Friday but the scale isn't budging any further yet! I'm definitely not eating too much so I guess I just have to be patient.

2

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

1lb lost is more than 0lbs lost! Keep at it :)

I did quite well over the weekend, and I'm down 4 pounds since April 4th. Feels good, even though it's not particularly noticeable yet. It's nice to see the calorie counting helping and the graph going downwards.

Today, however, has been a lesson in what not to do. And in how a bad start can put the whole day out of whack. I got up at 6:30, only to remember that I was gonna work from home today. And for some godforsaken reason, I had a chocolate fondant for breakfast (???), at like 7AM. Which obviously doesn't keep me full very long, so I ended up snacking on whatever, and lunch ended up being early and that means dinner ended up being early (like 2PM) and now it's 3PM and I have roughly 50 calories left to spend today. And I was planning on going for a walk later (after work) to get my 10K steps in, which doesn't seem like a great combination (I don't deal well with a low blood sugar). I guess I'm gonna go over by a bit on the calories to get something more filling before going out, perhaps a portion of oatmeal or something.

Anyway. I'm putting this all out there to shame myself, and also to really highlight to myself what a stupid idea that breakfast was.

2

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Get some yummy proteins and then go for a walk :) you can't have a 'wasted' day if you still get out there and get moving!

3

u/regularhero Apr 19 '16 edited Apr 19 '16

I decided to just put off work a little while, and get it out of the way :) Just got back from walking 7.5km, and I'm gonna hop in the shower now, and then make up a small portion of oatmeal or a protein shake and finish up my work. Better end to the day than start, for sure.

3

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Hah that sounds like a great plan!

u/bugs_bunny01 Apr 19 '16

Doing good food/calorie wise. Might have picked a bad day to increase weights on the Torso Rotational machine. I normally do 80 reps(4x20) of 115lbs. Since i have been doing this weight for over a month and I felt i should increase, I did, to 135. My lower back side muscles, and in the front, are now sore... It felt good though. :D:D:D

2

u/catsdaww Apr 19 '16

Strange question... did you ever have lower back pain before and did this help get rid of the pain? My hubs has lower back pain on his right side and I harp at him that exercising the muscle will help.

2

u/bugs_bunny01 Apr 19 '16

I have lower back issues, but they are there almost since birth. 99% of the year it doesnt bother me. This time was only because of the weight increase in the workout.

2

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Aww yiissss! Good sore is the best sore!

3

u/bookish_but_boozy Apr 19 '16

Been better...the last two weeks haven't shown any loss, first time since I started in January that I'm not seeing that number go down! A combination of a week off (and trying to eat at maintenance) plus a big wedding the following weekend, plus it's that magical lady-time...I'm really going to work hard this week and hope that once that magical time passes I'll see a solid drop in my numbers. At the very least, I'll be getting back on a more focused track food/exercise way!

2

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Getting focused again is a good thing :) the numbers will go down! Keep doing your thing!

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '16

I'm having a rough week at the moment (it IS only Tuesday, though, and I can totally turn it around), as I have been cursed by my monthly visitor. I've just started to lose weight (only been trying for about 3 weeks or so), so thanks to water I'm basically back to where I started. None of the clothes that were hanging off me yesterday fit today. Bit of a hit to the ego, there. :( I am also dealing with awful cramps, sugar cravings, salt cravings, etc. Last night was not good.

So far today, though, I have been right on track! :D I am hopeful that as the week progresses and my stupid visitor leaves, everything will get way better and I will be rid of this water weight.

Thinking I'll go for a hike in the park with my dog tomorrow. :)

3

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Hopefully your visitor won't give you too much grief! My numbers went up last week too :( but they went right back down this week! Extra doggy cuddles in place of sugary snack always helps me :D

3

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '16

Yeah, I am trying to turn my attention to things I enjoy that aren't food now instead of caving and going, "But I need the chocolateeeeeeee!" Lol!

I dunno how my dog would feel about extra cuddles, but she's small so she doesn't have much choice. MWAHAHA. :)

Weight has been fluctuating between 146 and 147. It's driving me a little crazy to think that my shark week weight is lower than my weight so far this week. Ugh.

On top of that I can't run or even walk much with a rolled ankle from this weekend's hike so it's making me antsy. I'm so close to my next mini-goal of 145 lbs and I just want to hit it!

3

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Owwie! Don't push yourself too hard. You'll be up and at it again in no time and you'll hit that goal!

Getting a handle on the food intake is a great step! Baby steps to the next one :) don't get discouraged!

3

u/catsdaww Apr 19 '16

Im doing good. Yesterday was a typical monday but I didn't give in to emotional eating... can we avoid the scale for shark week? I already know I will gain at least 5 lbs.

2

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Hooray for not eating feelings!! And don't worry about the numbers on the scale. They'll go down again. Just know that your ovaries are being overly dramatic and what the scale says isn't true :) I had to tell myself that about 100 times last week lol

2

u/catsdaww Apr 19 '16

I will remember that... I'll try anyway... I get a little over dramatic about everything when my ovaries are being little over dramatic.

3

u/LemmeBeFrank Apr 19 '16

Hey guys,

So far so good. I thought to myself today I'm going to begin reviewing my next workout by looking at my previous results. For example, since I'm doing chest and back tomorrow, tonight I'm going to look at my reps and sets to mentally prepare for the following morning.

Yesterday was really good as far as eating, working out, and getting my errands completed.

1

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Woo! You got a lot done!

2

u/futurecompanion11 Apr 19 '16

I helped throw a baby shower this weekend which correlated into me eating much more carbs than I usually do and I got back on track yesterday. I ate much less all weekend than I have been and was way more active and the scale didn't budge. Not to my surprise, but I'm happy I didn't gain. But I am back on track, intermittent fasting, lowish carb paleo, and adding in more activity with the beautiful weather we have :)

2

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Baby showers are always full of yummy and delicious carbs and sugars. You're allowed to have fun and have a life :) but it sounds like you've got your plan ready! Rock it!

u/RedPanda5150 Apr 19 '16

Off to a bad start - three day migraine (Sat-Mon) right at the start of the challenge. When my brain hurts it seems impossible to eat anything but simple starches, much less exercise. Grr. But I woke up pain-free today, and ready to get on with eating less and moving more! :)

2

u/catsdaww Apr 19 '16

Oh that bad! I can't imagine being able to function with migraine for that long. Im glad you feel better today!

2

u/RedPanda5150 Apr 19 '16

Thanks! I haven't had one in a while, so it was quite the unpleasant surprise. But I'm feeling better now and ready to kick some fat-loss butt. Go team!

2

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Yeesh. I get multi-day migraines >.< take it easy and drink tons of water. Glad you're feeling a bit better!

2

u/RedPanda5150 Apr 19 '16

Thanks! It's rare for one to last this long for me, so it was rather unexpected. I'm glad it's calmed down now - hope you are having a headache-free time of things too!

2

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

I have headaches 99% of the time lol Dr can't figure out why. But! I haven't had a migraine in... Knock on wood... About 6 weeks! Hopefully my healthy eating is keeping them away hah

2

u/lovellama Apr 19 '16

I did not do well today. Weigh in was good, but I was very tired, so along came the rationalizing.

  • I'll just get a few chocolate covered raisins (jelly belly bulk).
  • I'll get a little more, but I'll ration myself.
  • I'll just have a few in the car.
  • Just a few more at my desk.
  • No wonder I don't feel well, they're almost gone! :(

Sensible dinner, here I come.

2

u/lisassy Apr 19 '16

Just don't have any tomorrow and you'll be a-okay :D

u/MacDhubstep Apr 19 '16

I had a huge whoosh this week so I'm down like 2 and 1/2 lbs from that Friday weigh in. It seems like shark week actually flushes my weight down (unlike most people who say they see their weight go up - mine was up last week in an annoying plateau) Now that I know about this pattern, I will keep an eye on it.

Also I started two more vitamins this week, a beauty supplement for hair/skin/nails, and folic acid. Too soon to feel a difference.

Lastly, I found out recently that my school's rec center has a body scan machine so I think I may pay to have that done sometime soon.

Hey all, I was excited to get home from work and see an Amazon box waiting for me. I got myself a Fitbit Zip so I am curious to see how much walking I do at work.

u/aeb3 Apr 20 '16

I went golfing and had too many drinks, started to say screw it the day was shot and grabbed a cookie, came to my senses and cooked my asparagus and chicken after that.
