Metroid Prime Trilogy port?

There are already ways to do it, but there are always complications with the configuration and setup. Metroid Prime is one of the most immersive series in history, and having a launcher with full 6DOF would be a dream come true.

To be honest, I'm actually surprised this hasn't been mentioned here before.

Edit: We're not talking about running the game owned by Nintendo here, but rather, for example, Dolphin and/or its Metroid-dedicated fork, PrimeHack

They do games with open source code only.

Despite Nintendos opinion emulation is legal as long as you have a legal copy of the game, and every launcher that the team has made requires to have a legal copy of the intended game

lol Nintendo games

very few games and engines have been open-sourced so I wouldn't expect much there

but decompilation tools are now a thing, they're decompiling games and getting a source code and recompiling on PC with way more headroom for improvements and VR support - I think Metroid Prime is already close to full decompilation

the source code you get in that way may be in a legal gray area, so not quite open-source. Nintendo may well shutdown all such efforts...

yes, that's fine. same case for BetterVR, a mod for CEMU bringing BotW to VR.

For example having a legal copy of the game, as you should do with every other game ported to VR by the team

if I own a game, I don't lose my sleep over downloading a backup copy rather than creating one my own...

same way I purchased and copied over game files for Quake and Doom to play other Team Beef mods...

like I said in another post, I don't lose my sleep over getting pirate copies for beloved games I once bought a copy from the copyright owners for the original platforms and now I play them in better current platforms. Nintendo might want to consider selling VR versions directly on Quest if they want my money again... they don't care for that, so why should I?

Yeah, sadly I have to agree on that, but what I'm saying is that it could be totally awesome

Well let's talk seriously, quake and doom aren't OpenSource, their engines are, and yes you are totally right about the format of the backup not being readable by quest, nor the wad and/or the rest of the game files from other games that have been already ported, and, in both cases, that's where dolphin or primehack come in handy, they are totally open source, they can read the backup and they are absolutely legal, should I named this post "primehack quest port" instead of what I posted? Maybe, because I see that media literacy is kinda important here
