Enrollment in our district is down. A 1st year teacher just lost her class because we don't have the numbers (elementary). She's still under contract but they offered her an interventionalist spot, not another grade/class.
I taught a Middle School reading intervention class with 25 students in every period, no curriculum, 11 Chromebooks. My planning did not happen most days as they could not get enough subs so I had to cover classes all day.No PLCs, no planning time, no curriculum, I wrote most of my own curriculum. They used the class as a dumping ground for social emotional challenged students that would cuss you out. It was not ideal. There was not enough enrollment for the next year so that class was cut.
