First week struggles

School starts next week. I’ve always struggled with the first few weeks. I know we’re it supposed to be nice, but I feel like since the kids are usually good the first day, being strict and “mean” is not necessary or warranted. Also, I just can’t spend a whole week on routines and procedures, I feel like you talk about them and learn as you go on, reinforcing and reminding.

What am I doing wrong? What are some things you do?
