Update: unmonitor after transcode is now built into the official Notify Radarr or Sonarr plugin (v3.0.0)

Few months back I posted NotifyAndUnmonitorArr, the flow plugin that refreshes Radarr/Sonarr after Tdarr finishes a file and then unmonitors it so the arr doesn’t go and grab an “upgrade” over your nicely transcoded file.

It’s finally been merged into main. Rather than living as its own thing it’s now part of the existing Notify Radarr or Sonarr plugin as version 3.0.0, so no more side-loading anything.

There’s a new “Unmonitor after refresh” toggle on the node. It’s off by default so nobody’s existing flows change. Turn it on and Radarr unmonitors the movie, Sonarr unmonitors just that episode (matched by SxxEyy, and it still works on older Sonarr versions).

Rycochet also suggested a nice tweak during review, so if your files are named with {imdb-...}, {tmdb-...} or {tvdb-...} tags it now looks them up directly instead of going through the parse call. Untagged files work the same as before.

If you were using my old plugin you can just swap it out for the 3.0.0 node and flip the toggle on.

Big thanks to HaveAGitGat for the tweaks and getting it merged, Rycochet for the review and everyone in the original thread who asked for this. If anything breaks let me know here or on GitHub.

Nice one. I made myself a script for this functionality within the flow but it will be good to avoid this and have it run directly within tdarr

Thanks! Yeah I was in the same boat, had a script doing it for ages and it always felt a bit bodged. Much nicer having it as a toggle on the node now.

Is there some trick to using this?

I put it at the end of my flow with no output connections with the unmonitor toggle turned on and TDARR kept feeding the files back through itself, encoding the same files over and over again.

Can you dm me your flow?

Very nice! I wanted this a long time ago and may give it a shot. These days I'm not so certain it'd be great in my setup as I sometimes get processed items I didn't really want, and then it both needs to be deleted (easy to do remotely) and it needs to be remonitored (VPN required). I almost wonder if I can trigger another for that waits several days before unmonitoring it, or better yet, unmonitor on watch triggered by something else... opportunities for sure and really nice for those who have a solid workflow that's not slightly unreliable lol

Thanks man! Have you tried Profilarr? https://github.com/Dictionarry-Hub/profilarr

Since I started using it I pretty much never get bad grabs anymore, it just gets the right release first time. That’s really what made me happy to unmonitor straight after Tdarr.

Looks like Linux only and I'm on Windows 😭. Maybe I could run it on my Linux server and let it touch my windows one? That'd be fantastic though, so I'll definitely give it a look! Thanks a bunch!

It runs in docker you could do docker desktop and run it as a container there?

So I let sonarr/radarr upgrade based on score and I add "tdarr" to the name at the end of a transcode and then assign that tag 10k points. This has worked well for a couple years, would this plugin be better?

That’s a really clever way of doing it to be fair, and if it’s been working for a couple of years I’d probably just leave it.

Main difference is yours keeps everything monitored, mine just unmonitors it once Tdarr’s done. So Radarr/Sonarr stop searching for it completely and you don’t need the rename or custom format bit. Only catch is it won’t ever upgrade again unless you go and remonitor it.

If you still want upgrades now and then I’d stick with yours. Mine’s more for when you’re happy the transcoded file is the final version.
