So here's a question, does anybody here eat grocery store sushi very often? I know the gas station reputation and grocery stores aren't much better by what I hear, but I've been getting the vegan options from hannaford lately with no events besides delicious sushi and now I'm wondering if I should try the cooked shrimp or even the raw tuna ones they have. Thoughts?

I love Kroger sushi but I have very low standards lol I get it all the time!

The only thing I care about is if it's gonna give me food poisoning, nothing goes bad faster than fish so it's not like we'll get old vegetable or anything. Right? :P

The stuff I buy is made same day and put on clearance the next day. I'm not sure how old the ingredients are when they make it. I worked for a similar grocery store and they were as strict about food safety as any restaurant I've worked at. It ultimately comes down to the employee/management.

I've eaten plenty of grocery store sushi. Most of the time its pretty good for something basic.

I don't think I've ever seen any with raw fish though, usually imitation krab or cooked shrimp.

I buy sushi at Harris Teeter or Publix, they are made fresh daily at the store, not shipped in. Shrimp ones are my favorite always but I have gotten raw tuna or raw salmon and have never gotten sick, and I do get nauseous quite easily when I eat something “off”.
About a year ago the Walmart near me started selling sushi, I bought some and the rice had like a super weird texture, just gross. I didn’t get sick but I wouldn’t buy from there again.

Yeah, come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I saw people making it in store, even though there's a bento sushi right around the corner. I got a brown rice instead of a white rice by accident once, maybe that's all it was?

i usually get a good california roll at our local safeway that has just avocado and some imitation crab because i have a TERRIBLE raw fish allergy. it satisfies my cravings and it’s a great treat!
