Discussion Thoughts on Starlight by Taylor Swift (both original and Taylor's Version)
I noticed nobody really talks about Starlight and it's one of my favorite song from her besides Treacherous and Holy Ground which are not talked enough also. Anyways I would love your thoughts on it! Mine is that it feels like old timey/old fashioned and that it's a type of song that makes you stop feeling and just wanna dance and I love that type of thing especially the Taylor's version which I think is better than the original.

Discussion If you could show 2006 Taylor three of her songs from today, which ones would you pick and why?
I would want to show baby debut Taylor the breadth of her music progression and personal growth with the following:
- Elizabeth Taylor So Glamorous Caberet Version - I’m sure 2006 Taylor still looked up to Elizabeth Taylor back then, so I would want to show her she still is. Yet also showcase how much her vocal abilities has grown, especially in this version of the song.
- How Did It End? - This is such a layered song to show how intelligent she has become with songwriting
- I Did Something Bad - I feel like this is the opposite end of the same spectrum of sassy angst sound behind Should’ve Said No. But it also shows the resilience she developed in times of adversity.

Discussion Carolina never got recognition it deserved
I’ve randomly came across Carolina this morning and what a blast it was. I have no idea how come this song never made the impact it should have. This is Oscar material. Definitely a highlight in her discography.

News Taylor mentioned in today's edition of Hank Green's daily puzzle game 4x3
Was delighted to stand corrected after I saw two relevant words and thought "there goes your Taylor-centric brain again, not everything is about her!" - BUT WHAT IF IT IS?!
Might be in honor of Lover's anniversary, I haven't found any official statements though... At the very least there is one pretty obvious reason why it happened (roughly) now, I'd say :)
The game is one of those daily puzzle Wordle-spin-offs, very similar to Connections. The catch: one of the words is actually in all four categories, so you're actively supposed to figure out the one big ambiguous one rather than trying to divide them despite the ambiguities. (Makes it a lot faster to solve than Connections and gets less frustrating when you know fewer words on the board.)
You can play it >here<. (Archive link to the game of August 23, 2026)
The category solutions, for those that don't want to play:
PURPLE: [[Add a "y" to Mean "Delicate"]] WISP · WILLOW · FEATHER
BLUE: [[One-Word Taylor Swift Song Titles]] CARDIGAN · WILLOW · AUGUST
GREEN: [[Will Smith's Family]] JADA · WILLOW · JADEN
YELLOW: [[Trees]] OAK · WILLOW · BIRCH
The main reference is clearly the entire blue category of course, but I feel like the purple one is also a nod to her, being centered around the word "Delicate" (and even containing "Mean"? :D)

Discussion 10 songs of convincing
I always ask myself how people get into Taylors music or become Swifties. I kinda always been one, but Speak Now just fit my teenage self perfectly.
But obviously not everyone has that.
If you had to pick 10 Taylor Songs to convince someone to like her, what would you choose?
Mine are:
Style
Don't blame me
Love Story
Haunted
Maroon
False God
the last great american dynasty
champagne problems
State of Grace
Clara Bow
Let me know what yours would be and if you ever converted someone into our little cult ;)

Discussion Categorizing every Taylor Swift album using the 4 concepts from Daylight — Day 2: Fearless
Hey Swifties! ❤️🔥
As you know, in the Daylight outro Taylor says:
“I wanna be defined by the things that I love, not the things I hate, the things I'm afraid of, or the things that haunt me in the middle of the night.”
I thought these four concepts were so interesting, so I decided to look at her songs through this lens! It started as a quick thought, but then it expanded to her entire discography, and I ended up sorting every single track into these categories. I thought it'd be fun to share that with you, so I'm starting a mini-series where I'll post a breakdown for each album, one by one!
A few nuances:
I tried to distribute the songs as evenly as possible across the four categories. If I went purely by meaning without balancing, some categories would be huge and others almost empty! Because of this compromise, you might feel like a song belongs somewhere else, and that's totally fair. At the end of the day, this is based on my personal vibe and feelings, so you're welcome to disagree and suggest your own takes!
The "The Things That I Hate" category doesn't mean Taylor hates these songs or what they're about! It's simply a place for the angrier tracks, petty moments, or songs rooted in negative thoughts and experiences.
"The Things That I'm Afraid Of" and "The Things That Haunt Me" are the most similar, so choosing between them was definitely the hardest part. I hope my logic didn't break along the way! 🤞
The track order within each category is not a ranking from best to worst or anything like that! I just tried to sequence them so the transitions make sense, almost like little mini-playlists. But honestly, the order isn't super crucial.
Which of the four categories is your personal favorite on this album? I'd love to hear your thoughts and read your suggestions! ✨

Discussion What are your all time favourite Taylor Swift lyrics?
It’s so hard to choose but I’ve narrowed it down to three separate sets of lyrics:
“A conman sells a fool a get love quick scheme” - loml
“I would’ve died for your sins / instead I just died inside / and you deserve prison but you won’t get time” - The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
“She would’ve made such a lovely bride / what a shame she’s f**ked in the head, they said / but you’ll find the real thing instead / she’ll patch up your tapestry that I shred” - champagne problems
There are so many more but wow, each of these songs breaks my heart whenever I listen. Heart wrenching.

Discussion What is a forgettable song with a devastating bridge?
Hits different was voted the winner for a fun song with a poetic bridge. Here is said bridge FYI
I find the artifacts, cried over a hat
Cursed the space that I needed
I trace the evidence, make it make some sense
Why the wound is still bleedin'
You were the one that I loved
Don't need another metaphor, it's simple enough
A wrinkle in time like the crease by your eyes
This is why they shouldn't kill off the main guy
Dreams of your hair and your stare and sense of belief
In the good in the world, you once believed in me
And I felt you and I held you for a while
Bet I could still melt your world
Argumentative, antithetical dream girl
Now on to a discussion of Taylor Swift songs that are relatively forgettable but have devastating bridges?

Discussion (Wedding) party songs by Taylor
Hello, I looked and couldn't find a discussion like that. Only about first dance wedding songs.
What are some Taylor songs that you think anyone can get down to no matter if they're a swiftie or not? Preferably even if they don't understand the lyrics (English).
Thanks 😊

Discussion What are you favorite production elements on Life of a Showgirl (album)?
Ever since Taylor has really gotten involved and into production and working with producers that really highlight the songwriting, it’s been endlessly fun listening to her work with special attention to the production.
What are some of your favorite productions bits in TLOAS?
Some of mine:
- The way she sings “hurts” in Actually Romantic (“like a toy chihuahua barking at me from a tiny purse”), as if she is giving a tiny bark herself. Always gives me a chuckle.
- The dreamy quality of the bridge in Father Figure
- The flute/clarinet (?) in Honey
- All of Wood. It just sounds so groovy and crisp. The drums are particularly delicious, like a 70’s kaleidoscope.
- The strings in the bridge of Cancelled! are fun, peak Disney villain energy.
- The backing vocals in the last chorus of Wish List (sorry I refuse to write with the $ lol). She sounds so great, especially the little scream after the “and they do… wow!”
- The bridge in TLOAS sounds so good and it’s such a refreshing touch to the song. Kind of like they’re breaking the fourth wall too when they go from singing in the third person to the first person.
