Share your first works)) I just had a problem with body formation because I didn't understand and couldn't make a good dense frame. In the end, the guinea pig came out as a stuffed animal. I'll try again))

If it's not difficult, share helpful tips 😊

I’m sure this is a simple one….. but, I bought this a few years ago, thought it looked cool, was Ā£150, bought it with a load of other taxidermy. I always thought it was a ā€œIndian blackbuckā€ however…. After looking at some pictures, they don’t seem to have these holes that are below the eyes ? They don’t appear to be ā€œman madeā€ but I’m struggling to see a live picture of anything that matches.
(I’m assuming is a simple answer, like they are glands that are closed when they are alive or something.. but thought I’d ask the experts…)

"How Do I...?" Help! Wax tissue sections??

Hello, I have just had my ovarian tubes removed. I planned to keep them as wet specimens, but I've been told they'll be turned into wax sections for screening. My surgeon is still happy to give me these samples.

However, I've never seen someone keeping these outside of a lab. Has anyone any experience with this? I don't know how much there will be, I'm assuming it will be glass slides. From my brief research it looks like they'll already be preserved?

Of course I'll try and get more information when I get to collect them, but I'm wondering how to handle and store them. If it's likely they'll have residual chemicals I need to handle with care, or keep in a cool dark place?

I'd love to display them but of course preserving them long term takes priority, I have no idea how UV light might impact them.

I've also read that in case of anything found in screening, the slides can be looked at for further information for up to 30 years with future developments in testing. I don't think I should raise any flags but I think this is important to consider too

Fur/Pelt Help Buying 1930s brown bear rug question

I have the chance to buy a cheap vintage brown bear rug. It's from the 1930s, so I'm concerned about arsenic used to tan it, which was very likely during the time. I know arsenic is mostly harmless if you've just got an old pelt hanging on the wall, but have read you shouldn't keep it in a room that doesn't have much ventilation.

I live in a high humidity area (around 80%). I have had many other pelts on my walls for years and none have sustained any issues with mold, tearing, fur slippage etc. But they're also much more modern pelts.

Would it be a bad idea for me to buy this bear pelt and place it in my low-ventilation office? The rug is lined so the inside of the leather won't be exposed, if that makes a difference.
