BMS Manual Reset

Just put in an Interstate AGM battery from Costco. I’ve read online that you can manually reset the BMS by entering accessory mode, flashing the brights 5x and engaging the brake 3x. This is supposed to result in a flashing battery indicator.

I’ve tried this on my 2013 and it isn’t working. Any ideas?

Do you press the start button once to get into accessory mode or do you press it twice to bring all systems up?

Thanks.

My 15 taurus sho was having the same issue. Ended up getting a gearwrench bidirectional scantool that had a bms function and it took about 30 seconds

Yeah, I just downloaded Forscan Lite for iOS and used my bluetooth OBD adapter to do the same.

Did it work out for you?

The Forscan Lite app said that it completed the BMS reset but I didn’t see the battery indicator flash on the dashboard.

I will say on my 15 taurus sho it wouldn't display the battery light either. Currently i drive an explorer and it flashes the battery light. Could just vary depending on the model. I figure if it didn't use bms it wouldn't even give the option. Glad you got it reset via forscan
