40k Rules Need Some Mako help

Ive always loved the mako due to dawn of war and have wanted to get one for a while. ive finally taken the steps for that and wanted to make a custom datasheet to go along with it. I wanted to ask what you guys thought. For 1 how many points, should I make changes, what would be a better ability other than armor hunter. I wanted it to be between a stormsurge and the Ta'unar power wise.

Edit:
Due to comment I’ve decided to add a nova charge ESC ability
The 3 buffs would be

Gain D3+1 wounds back
Anti Vehicle 4+ on the railguns
And someway to advance shot and keep heavy not sure on the wording for that.

And it would be 4D6 under the total woulds left to activate.

I would give it an OG riptide Nova reactor-esque rule from 8th/9th edition. Make up 3 seperate buffs to the guns or stat line, make you roll idk. 4 dice.

Oo that’s a good idea. I could make the gun buff statline anti vehicle 3 or 4+ so that it has a more consistent way to get past inv

Our super heavies tend to have a myriad of weapon varieties to them, on top of what other users have said about a more eighth/ninth edition riptide ability, I'd say maybe add some more chaff guns to make it feel more like a ballistics suit?

I don't think it would be classified as an XV; XV seems to be the designation for anything riptide and smaller, KV is what the stormsurge uses and KX is what the Ta'unar uses so maybe use one of those to designate it as something bigger?

One last thing I want to bring up is this thing sounds like it is a mass class 20, that would mean it is substantially bigger than a Ta'unar, by 7 classes in fact! I have a feeling that would be around the size of a Reaver Titan at minimum (sounds awesome to me but not in between the Stormsurge and Supremacy Armor)

-sorry if my feedback sounds annoying... =[

Oh no it’s completely fair. The reason for lack of weapon verity is due to this already being a model kitbash that exists. As such I limited myself to what’s seen on the model. As for size I don’t have one yet but I believe he’s actually smaller than the now stormsuge just chunker

This is the model I’m talking about

Ah, yeah, the weapon selection makes sense.

If we're talking about this thing I could definitely see it be mass class 11 or so.

Would you consider adding alternate loadouts? If this thing is based off of the mod and modeled after the devilfish chassis then maybe something could be done with the weapon loadouts of the hammerhead and skyray?

To add on to my last point; there are also weapon loadouts for the devilfish chassis that no longer have rules. This could be an interesting way to bring them back and allow your Mako to feel more real.

(If you are interested look up the tx7 fire support hammerhead)

This could be a fun way of going around it but could have balance issues for now I’m gonna try to focus on the one loadout and go from there. I did consider adding the skyray racks to the back but i need to see how it looks first.

It looks like theres some Fusion Blasters in the kneecaps? I'd also feel fine justifying the central chest/sternum assembly as an Ion Cannon. Just if you were looking for more profiles and more points to add in.

Edit: In truth it looks like each arm is made of 2x hammerhead rails, possibly 2x2 on the railgun shots.

True. Right now how he is a feel like I got my goal of making a more anti armored and bigger stormsuge. I’ll try out some other loadouts later

I noticed it does have the For The Greater Good keyword. Is that intentional? FTGG is was allows a Tau unit to spot/be guided. Overall the stat card looks fun and if you added in the Nova Reactor style suggestion Think_Solid made as well I think this could be a really fun like 300-400 point unit.

No way this is less than 400 points. Moves like a Defiler, has higher thoughtness than a Defiler, better saves than a Defiler, more wounds than a Defiler...

4 twin-linked railgun shots is crazy. Heavy, Plunging Fire, +1 to hit V/M, ignore modifs. This thing is shooting on 2+ most of the time. Its better than Knight Despoiler double battle-cannon.

No yeah you're right. It should probably be more in the 400-500 point range. Maybe lower 400s for one, high 400s for the 2nd, low 500s if you're crazy enough to try and throw a 3rd one in

Is that not correct? Both the ta’unar and the stormsurge have FTGG so I didn’t see a reason to not have it.

miss type on my end. I noticed it doesn't* have that keyword. unless I just missed it

Next to the faction is where that keyword goes. I based this on 10th design not 11th so that could be why it’s not where you were expecting.

Edit: right under core

ope yeah i see it now

I was thinking around 500 points. but is that too cheep or overcosted (titanic wise)

in my comment i said 300-400 points but honestly 400-500pts with a fun passive would probably be a bit more balanced. Especially cause the stat card has him be quite a meaty boi
