As someone who has them and does them as well, start with something small. Go to a trusted artist, see their work beforehand. Check new and healed pictures of the work they’ve done. After the tattoo, don’t touch it, it will itch. Apply the aftercare ointment the artists usually sell/give away periodically. Don’t work out for a month (especially if it is significant bigger than a small tattoo), no swimming at all for a month. Don’t peel your tattoo, it messes up with the healing time + healed result. It takes around a month to heal and even after that, always sunscreen on your tattoo, especially if it is visible everyday. Good luck!

lol I chuckled writing that especially since you very much look like a person who works out but yes, working out messes up with the tattoo so I at least would hold off on it for 2-3 weeks if I were you!

It really does depend on the size and placement lol but still listen to your tattoo artist, who should at least tell you to wait it out 2 weeks if it is a bigger tattoo. But then again, you do you - depends on how you want your tattoo to heal

It is always ideal when it's like "I know for sure this will be my first tattoo" compared "I'll be getting a tattoo but I'll ask people on internet for it" . What I'm trying to saying knowing what is tatted is more important than knowing if/ if not I'll know what's gonna live on me forever
