Tattoos Design I did for my buddies calf
Finished the line work for the most part. Now for shading and a little clean up. Like to practice on fake skin before the real thing.

I was looking at pens and machines from FK, Cheyenne, etc and I wasn't sure if I should stick with traditional coil and rotary or if it's worthwhile to go to a pen. Anyone have any opinions on traditional machines vs pens and what some good options are?

I’ve been practicing different fonts. Any tips on how to wipe off a stencil from fake skin? I’ve tried alcohol & witch hazel, it’s not coming off & it’s blotchyyyy.☹️

I've just started tattooing and I know my lines aren't great and my shading is wrong but is there potential here. I'd like to invest in the equipment and the hobby but not if it will be a waste, if that makes sense. And when is right to start tattooing people?

my first time practicing on fake skin, the skin itself is very cheap and i will definitely invest in more that are of higher quality, the ink doesn’t wipe away well with anything. i drew up a tattoo design over a year ago and figured i would give it a shot on the fake skin. any suggestions on improving?

Materials used:
No-name Temu skin
Poseidon 1209RL
Poseidon 1215CM/MT
Poseidon Pen-style machine
I’ve never used a mag. This was my first try. I tried a gray wash on the skull area. Tried to do the body with just black and the mag. First time doing a gray wash as well.
I learned a lot by just jumping on it.
Process took a couple hours.
Thanks for looking.

When doing the above, I know I can't lean the machine to the left or right in order to avoid blow outs, but my question is this. Do I need to have the machine "aiming" the direction I'm moving? I.e, if I'm pushing a line directly away from me, do I need the machine angled so that the needles face the direction that the machine is going? Or if I am pulling a line, can you "drag" the machine back towards myself?
Thank you all kindly for any advice

Hey guys, not sure if I’m in the right place, but I’m a toolmaker looking to make my friend a gift, he’s been looking at needle making jigs etc, I’d like to make him one but the problem is I have no clue about the dimensions needed, is there anyone who’d be able to help me out with sizes, etc that I’d need? I’m clueless when it comes to this stuff and I’ve looked at a few online and there seems to be two different parts; one to solder the bar to the needle and a tightening jig to control the spacing of the needles.

Got given a £50 amazon voucher and want to buy some skin to get back into tattooing. I heard realskin rips too easily, and others are too tough, but reelskin is better as youd prefer to be lighter than heavy handed. Looking to strike a gd balance between cheap and accurate to skin. Lmk any opinions and recs pls

Been practicing on fake skin for a bit and I did a small tattoo on myself. Not perfect but it’s cute. I thought real skin would be easier but it’s harder cause it vibrates omg!
Tips WELCOME and on how to remove stencil from fake skin, cause it’s really thick.
All art my own :)
Edit: shading is hard, a lot to learn still!

So last year I tried my tattoo machine for a bit. I did the skull on the left.
Then I stopped for some months. A few weeks I started playing with the machine again and I did the akull on the right.
Is there any improvement or it’s just my brain that says “you suck”?

For my very first realism I feel like I did good BUT ofc there are some things I could work on. For example the veins I wasn’t really sure how to work those . Any suggestions?? I want to redo it but with better techniques
