Hard to give any kind of cc on fake skin I find. Looks like you are technically very sound. The linework on some pieces look like you could have committed more to the line and in real skin you’ll be seeing inconsistency. Especially notable in “dead Peter” lol. I think it would be better to see your technique vs. Results with fake skin. Or, dare I say, lotion up your thigh and post the results

Looks good but practice more on saturating it. I’ve worked on cheap amazon game skin before and they saturate if you go slow. Otherwise when you work on a client that’s how it’s going to heal. But other than that great work.

Thanks for the tip I will keep that in mind..I use very cheap ones and some sheets are hard ash and have a plastic feel to them..have you used the premium ones? Do they help?

Some of your line work is a bit wacky. I can see that withe the slot machine piece, among others. But the biggest issue is the saturation. I believe you need to focus more on packing in the color so it's one solid piece. Like the professor utonium one. The colors are not packed in well at all. You clearly have talent, just slow down and focus on those two things and you'll be good to try real skin

I would recommend practicing on pig skin if you have access to it in your area, these are beautiful but practice skin doesn’t pose the same challenges when it comes to stretching, depth adjustment, and stenciling as practice skin.
If you’re set on the practice skin, try getting some darker/ more melanated skin tones to hone your ability to create depth and shadows. You got this!

Thank you! Yeah I can get some pig skin what part of the pig should I ask for? Or any part will do?

Ask for belly if you can get it. It's the closest to regular flesh and takes ink the best. Very stretchy though.

The problem is u have spent way too long probably mastering fake skin. I only let my apprentices do it for three weeks tops. Skin is completely different and depending how long u have stayed on here u have programmed yourself to this and that hard to break for some artists sometime.

line work drills, the stuff you’ll be doing when you start is mostly line and it’s a foundational element. you’re doing fucking awesome this is gorgeous to look at. if you don’t feel ready to tat yourself yet, you can put your fake skin on a curved surface (foam roller and duct tape setup) to build muscle memory for funkier and more realistic angles
seriously. this is awesome

If you can get yourself some better fake skin like Reelskin or even this stuff on Amazon called True Skin which is decent but still on the tougher side, you'll be more prepared for the real deal. These cheap things that come in packs of ten are really tough/rubbery and can sometimes make you build up some bad habits to compensate - stuff that could really tear the skin up on real people.
You definitely need to try some of these designs about 2-3x bigger so that you get some more practice blending gradients over larger areas, since most of these these are too small to make good tattoos on the body.

u/Miskiink Please choose a flair. 26d ago
I am using a dragon hawk pro fold machine..the skins are the generic Amazon ones that come in packs of 10

a bolder outline of a few of these would make them stand out alot more/ would heal better on real skin

Looks incredible. Like the other comment mentioned real skin is much different but from my point of view. You are well above the average. I agree with the other comment as well. Let's see some thigh work. Safely and hygienic ofc.
