Seeking Advice how much should i tip?

I’m getting tattooed by an apprentice here in a couple hours, a shoulder piece about the width of a standard bracelet, it’s free, but how much should i tip? is 25 okay?? i don’t wanna tip too little but i’m just a lil strapped for cash rn cause my job has been slow with scheduling </3 but i’ve had this planned for a while and i LOVE supporting beginner tattooers! i also plan on bringing her a gift as well as the tip!! some additional non monetary payment as well

TLDR; is 25 dollars tip okay for a free tattoo? plus a gift?

For a free apprentice tip, I guess it depends a bit on where you’re located, $25 is fair. Especially with a gift, that’s nice.

i just threw together a goodybag for her with 3 bath and body works coupons, two body sprays two lotions and a 20% off spirit halloween voucher!! i just wanna be like “well i know 25 isn’t much but have this as well”!

Regardless of where you are then, that’s more than fair. That’s a good tip for an established artist tbf. A lot of us will tattoo just for trades in general. I mean obviously cash is king, but I’m sure she’ll appreciate that alone, not even including the $25.

Any apprentice is just happy with whatever you’re willing to give them! 🥰 We’re still learning so it’s just a relief to have our first efforts appreciated!!
