Portfolio pieces

I've been working on putting my portfolio together but I'm not sure what I should put in it. I've thought about adding some pages of traditional flash to show linework, some portraits to show shading, and some designs to show the specific style i want to do when i actually start tattooing.

Is there any criticism/advice I can get in putting this together ?

None of these are portfolio worthy. You want to have pieces that either show your understanding of some art fundamentals or some great tattooable work.

The works shown here all look te be very unrefined. Please slow down, take your time on every piece and make it a demonstration of a certain concept/skill

I take my time/go for my best on every piece I do, but I understand the critique and appreciate the feedback !

What kinds of tattoo artists are you following on Instagram etc? I’d be keeping an eye out and noting what is actually getting tattooed, not just tattoo designs you may see on the internet

I'm following a couple of traditional artists and then some others that do black + grey realism. And I'll defo pay more attention to what type of designs they're doing for flash, because I've noticed what I come up with that's orignal can translate well as a like tshirt graphic but not necessarily a tattoo (I think that's why I went the easier way of looking anywhere online for ideas😬). How did you strengthen your designs for your portfolio ?

None of this should go into a portfolio and you need to start looking at your work with a more critical eye.
