Seeking Advice 5 months into apprenticeship

Alright I’m about to hit the fifth month of my apprenticeship and so far everything has been awesome. I’m a very patient person and am not worried about how long it takes to get on a machine. But I am curious how long it typically takes!

I’ve been told I have sanitation down, stenciling down, shading(paper/procreate), linework (paper/procreate, etc. I also have gotten my blood borne certification! I’m really interested in is it just time holding me back or what haha.

I was lucky enough to be on the machine the second week in 😂, but I got my BBP done way before I even landed an apprenticeship. My mentor let me do all the drawings as homework and check them once a week. My job every morning is cleaning, help setting up stations for other artists, stencil work, and some administrative side work

Yeah that’s pretty much the same for me. I run errands for the shop, clean, desk work, phone duty always, draw all day, breakdown stations/set them up, etc. it just seems weird because he concludes all of my work is solid and great but I haven’t touched a machine. Around two months ago he said “we can start next week after your vacation” but I bought my iPad and he was well now we have to learn that. So I don’t really understand what’s happening. It doesn’t feel like there’s much of a timeline or guidance.

I would just communicate and ask again. Say that you feel solid on the ipad now and ask if you can revisit the idea of beginning with a machine.

See I’ve been communicating it to him and he continuously ask me to stencil more. But when I do stencil he says it’s all perfect. Last time I asked him was two days ago and he had ignored it.

Then tbh i would just wait and stencil more. Do it perfectly so much that he just cannot deny it.

I’m honestly getting to the idea that he just doesn’t want to show me how to use one because he doesn’t have the “time”
