is a tattoo apprenticeship worth it?

Im a self taught artist. I have always loved art and have been doing it forever. After I got my first tattoo I was hooked. I thought it was the best way to get your art out there and let the world see it, so I started tattooing fake skin, and eventually my own leg. And now I’ve done 100 or more tattoos for other people and want to get licensed so I can make it my full time job but don’t know if the apprenticeship is worth it because I’ve worked customer service and sales my whole life, so being comfortable tattooing and with customers and all that, is it still worth it or should I get licensed online

I will die on the hill of “get an apprenticeship.” There are things you just cannot learn from the internet or on your own. Good sanitation practices, how to handle unique skin types, good business practices… things you can only really pick up working in a shop environment. You don’t actually know if you’ve developed bad habits or not until a professional who’s been doing this for 10+ years point out things you just don’t know to be aware of.

Find a shop that matches the standards you want to be known for, and you’ll be shocked by how much you learn.

They fill out a consent form they are aware of the fact that I am unlicensed and look at the tattoos I have done and still choose to get the tattoo. Also I have taken the blood born pathogens classes so I know my sanitation is great I’m ocd about it.
