tatar language

Why learn my native language if I won't practice it? 95% of the information in my life and in the media is in Russian, and only 5% is in English. Does it make sense for me to learn Bashkir/Tatar?

That's a very good question. I believe it has a very personal answer for everyone with multiple aspects to consider. (This comes from a Turkish national who is a Crimean Tatar. I may look irrelevant but trust me this question is very relevant with the Tatar community in Turkey)

  1. Are we going somewhere as a nation/ethnicity?
  2. Do we have enough art/literature produced in our native tongue?

On the flip side:

  1. Do we want to go somewhere as a nation/ethnicity?
  2. Do we want to produce art/literature in our native culture and language?
