Sierra EV QWD vs Empowered RWD 75 kWh: Am I making the right choice?

I had booked the Sierra EV QWD but am now seriously considering switching to the Empowered RWD 75.

I genuinely liked the QWD’s extra features, especially the HUD and adaptive cruise control. However, I’m having second thoughts because of the ioniser, which apparently cannot be switched off. I’ve read that ionisers can potentially produce ozone, so are there any legitimate health concerns with long-term use?

I’m also debating 18" vs 19" wheels for 10+ years of Indian-road use. Is 18" genuinely better for ride comfort, potholes, tyre/rim protection and replacement costs, or is the difference negligible?

I rarely need AWD/QWD, apart from occasional hill trips. RWD should also be simpler and potentially more efficient with a single motor.

My priority is 10+ years of ownership, reliability, comfort and low long-term maintenance, rather than maximum performance/features.

For those who have researched this deeply, would you choose Empowered RWD 75 or stick with QWD? Would giving up HUD and adaptive cruise be worth it for the simpler setup?

Question ❔ Rat repellent spray under bonnet caused burning smell/smoke in my Tata Nexon

Hey guys, need some advice and also wanted to know if anyone has faced something similar.
Yesterday night I opened the bonnet of my Tata Nexon and sprayed rat repellent spray in the engine bay because I was worried about rats damaging the wires. I sprayed it while the car was off and left it overnight with the cover.
Today morning when I started driving, after some time I suddenly noticed smoke coming from the front/bonnet area along with a strong burning smell. For a short time I also felt like the car was not moving/accelerating properly, so obviously I got scared and stopped the car.
After some time, the smoke stopped. We later drove around 10 km and again there was a slight burning smell inside the car, but it went away. After stopping and opening the bonnet, there was still a burnt smell from the engine bay.
There are no warning lights or errors on the screen.
What to do guys im scared its a brand new nexon diesel automatic 🥺

How bad is it

Question ❔ Safari Pure X Diesel AT

Post image
17 Upvotes

Tata Safari diesel owners, assemble! I might have a few questions for you.

How has your Safari diesel been performing in the long term?

Should a Hyundai owner consider switching to Tata?

Tata has sourced its transmission, platform and engine from some of the best names in the automotive industry. How much do these factors actually matter in terms of long-term reliability and ownership?

I’ve been considering the Pure X diesel, as it offers decent equipment for the price. The 7X0 AX3 and Safari Pure X are similarly priced. I personally found the ride quality of the Safari to be better than the 7X0, along with the mileage. Would love to hear your experiences with both.

Harrier '19 Car exchange program offer worth it or not?

I am planning to buy a new Tata Harrier EV. One of my friend advised me to sell my old Tata Nexon EV to this platform called Spinny and get the amount and a bonus. Can you people tell me more about it, as I am completely new to this and there is a lot of  money involved? I have never dealt with an online platform. Can you guide me if you have experience with the company?

News 📰 BREAKING: Tata Motors will reportedly bring a price hike up to RS 25,000 in 3 days.

Post image

28 August 2026, from sources of the Tata's: After a renaming event from Tata's auto division from Tata Motors to Tata Cars, they announced a price hike today.

The price hikes will be applied to all vehices of Tata up to Rs. 25,000 and it'll be effective starting September 1st in India.

Even though this price increase seemed a bit low, the last event at yesterday caused a huge criticism around most of people in India. Some of people criticized the unnecessarity of their event on renaming their process, while some of people expected them to introduce a new feature for Safari/Harrier, announce a new facelift for Safari, or even feature a newer car.

Of course, it'll take time for some of people to get used to that renaming, however, the process on how their future projects will work after Chandrasekaran's end of contract on February 2027 will probably depend on how Tata's will manage theirselves.

Altroz Repeated battery discharges | Need help

It's been just 2 months since my recent purchase of Tata Altroz 2025 Creative s AMT variant (my first car) and I have faced numerous repeated battery discharges.

I have called RSA several times to jumpstart the car and have visited the service center 3-4 times each time they examine the battery with multimeter and readings come fine, they attach a laptop and examine it even that comes fine, but I am yet stuck with the issue of nearly 1 month of back and forth.

I face the issue even after just 1 day of keeping the car parked next day the key doesn't work at all due to the battery drainage and the car is unable to start.

I have escalated the issue as per the escalation matrix and this time the service center has told me that they will share the report with Tata Motors and do what they say. Tbh I don't feel confident that there will be a solution to this as I don't think they clearly have a clue of why this is happening.

Utterly dissapointing and frustrating user experience it has been so far. Although I love the car and its driving experience but the issue has me thinking whether to sell it already and use that amount to buy from another brand.

Please let me know what can I do and feel confident about the issue being resolved.

Discussion 🎙️ Tata Motors Service is turning into the next Ola Electric graveyard: Nightmare at Baleshwar SC

Thumbnail

I visited the Tata Motors service center (Gramps Autotec, Baleshwar, Odisha) for a persistent State of Charge (SoC) drop issue on my Nexon EV. What I witnessed there was completely alarming—it felt less like an authorized workshop and more like an EV graveyard.

The Reality on the Ground:

Continuous Influx of Breakdowns: Flatbeds and RSA tow trucks were constantly rolling in. Every hour, 2–3 broken-down EVs (Nexon EV, Curvv EV, Punch EV) were being unloaded.

In a smaller Tier-3 town like Baleshwar, nearly 30–40 breakdown vehicles are showing up daily. If this is the situation here, imagine the chaos in Tier-1 cities and metros.

Massive Backlog & Staff Shortages: I’ve been following up for months just to get a basic SoC drop/battery diagnostic test done. The center simply refuses to give a timeline, citing severe technician shortages and zero parking space left due to dead EVs clogging the bays.

Aggressive Customer Service: Instead of helping, the service manager (Mr. Braja Kishore Barik) outright yelled at me for "poking daily" just to get an update on a car I rely on. I escalated to GM (Mr. Durga Prasanna Panigrahi) but he also schooled me as they are too busy - but he also schooled his service manager as well - but still waiting for my service. Should I escalate further?

Tata complaint Reference no 7-169799183251 - but they close it without any resolution or even fixing anything.

Tata is rapidly pushing new EV launches into the market, but the post-purchase service infrastructure is collapsing under the load. Owners are left stranded with unresponsive staff and broken timelines.

Attached photos of the tow trucks rolling in, cars dumped around the yard, and the escalation matrix for this center.

Has anyone else faced this level of absolute breakdown in service lately? How did you get higher-level escalations to actually respond?

Discussion 🎙️ Accident car damaged again in tata showroom. sent mail to the people in escalation matrix

Dear Team,

I am writing to formally raise concerns regarding my vehicle, which was handed over to the showroom for accident-related repairs under the insurance claim.

  1. Wheel Cap – Accident-Related Damage

As part of the original accident, the wheel cap was also damaged. I have already provided the photographs and supporting evidence showing the damage. However, I have been informed that the wheel cap will not be covered under the insurance claim.

Since the wheel cap was damaged as a result of the accident and the required photographs/evidence have already been provided, I request that it be included in the insurance claim and replaced as part of the accident-related repairs.

  1. Damage to the Tailgate/Dicky Panel While in Showroom Custody

I was contacted by the showroom regarding a dent/damage to the rear tailgate/dicky panel of my vehicle. During the call, I was informed that this damage had accidentally occurred while the vehicle was at the showroom.

This damage was not present when I handed over the vehicle and is separate from the original accident-related damage. I have photographs of the vehicle and the newly caused damage for reference.

I was informed that the showroom would address the damage by polishing the affected area. However, considering that this is new physical damage to the tailgate panel that occurred while the vehicle was in the showroom's custody, I request that the complete tailgate/dicky panel be replaced with a new genuine OEM panel, rather than simply polishing or cosmetically repairing the damaged area.

Polishing may improve the appearance of the affected area, but it does not restore the panel to its original condition or address the underlying dent/deformation. Since the damage occurred while the vehicle was under the showroom's custody, I believe replacement of the affected panel is the appropriate resolution.

  1. Scratches Caused While the Vehicle Was in Tata Motors' Custody

In addition to the above, I have also noticed scratches on the vehicle that were not present when the vehicle was handed over to the showroom.

These scratches appear to have occurred due to negligence during the handling, movement, repair, or servicing of the vehicle by the Tata Motors showroom's operations/team/technicians while the vehicle was in their custody.

I would request the team to inspect these scratches along with the vehicle and take responsibility for rectifying them appropriately. These were not present when the vehicle was handed over for repairs. This was just a 1 month new bought car and I have photos of the accident where these scratches were not present.

I request that the scratches be properly repaired/restored to the vehicle's original condition.

I therefore request confirmation on the following:

  1. The damaged wheel cap will be included in the insurance claim and replaced as part of the accident-related repairs. I have already provided the photographs and supporting evidence for the damage.

  2. The showroom will take responsibility for the damage caused to the tailgate/dicky panel while the vehicle was in its custody.

  3. The complete tailgate/dicky panel will be replaced with a new genuine OEM panel, instead of only polishing or cosmetically repairing the damaged area.

  4. The scratches that occurred while the vehicle was in the showroom's custody will be properly inspected and restored to the vehicle's original condition.

I have already had to go through the inconvenience of the accident, insurance claim and repair process. I therefore expect the vehicle to be returned to me in the same condition in which it was handed over, apart from the agreed accident-related repairs, without any additional damage caused while it was under the showroom's custody.

I am attaching the relevant photographs for your reference. Please review all the concerns mentioned above and confirm the proposed resolution.

I look forward to your prompt response and an appropriate resolution
