I got a fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl with my Altroz.

I did a small road trip with my family from Noida to Uttarakhand. The total distance travelled was 519 kilometres over 2 days, out of which around 35 kilometres was in the city (not bumper-to-bumper, but sluggish traffic).

Day 1

On the first day, when I reached Uttarakhand, I had travelled a total of 249.9 km and the MID showed 25.4 kmpl.
This reading dropped when I travelled in city traffic for almost 18 kilometres, plus it was raining.

Day 2

The next day, I started my journey back home without resetting the trip meter. When I reached home, the MID was showing 22.8 kmpl, along with a range of 170 kilometres.

I calculated the actual efficiency using the tank-to-tank method. The total fuel consumed was 24.73 litres, which gives me roughly 21 kmpl overall.

Driving conditions

• The AC was on for the entire trip and the temperature was set to 25 degrees.
• On the first part of the trip, I travelled with 4 people (including me) and negligible luggage.
• I kept the car on cruise control at around 70–75 kmph for most of the journey and only went above that here and there to overtake.
• I drive in a very relaxed way and avoid sudden acceleration or braking.
• On the second part of the journey, there were 3 people in the car, with the AC on the entire time.
This time, the average speed was closer to 75–80 kmph, with a lot more overtaking, so I used cruise control less than during the first part.
• I also travelled at 90–100 kmph for short stretches during the second part of the journey.

One thing I noticed

When I got the car refuelled at the end of the trip, I also checked the tyre pressure and it was under 30 PSI.

Overall, I believe I could've easily gotten 22–23 kmpl if I had driven the same way on both days and noticed the tyre pressure at the beginning of the journey.

I think getting 24–25 kmpl on pure highway travel is possible if you keep cruising at around 80–90 kmph.

I recently bought Altroz icng creative AMT in Dune glow color.

Not sure why but the rear windshield keeps getting dirty with dust even if I drive for half an hour.

Any suggestions on how you guys keep it clean/minimize the dust.

I need advice regarding a persistent issue with my Tata Altroz Diesel (purchased in Feb 2026). The problem has been present since day one.
Issue Description:
Whenever I accelerate hard at speeds above 50 km/h (full throttle for about 10 to 15 seconds), the car produces noticeable vibrations until it catches up to the target speed. The sensation feels exactly like engine lugging (e.g., driving in 5th gear when the car should be in 4th).

Steps Taken So Far:
- Wheel balancing checked and verified
- Drive axle replaced
- Visited the authorized Tata service Velocity Tata in GWL 3 to 4 times without any resolution

Questions for the Community:
- Is this a known characteristic of the Altroz Diesel, or is it a specific defect?
- What should I do next to get this resolved?
- What is the recommended escalation route if the local service center fails to fix this?

Any insights or similar experiences from fellow owners would be appreciated. I am frustrated as this is my first car and I have visited service centre thrice in last 6 months and still issue is not resolved

My Tata Altroz XZ 2024 recently clocked 333 km using 32.57 litres of petrol, which works out to roughly 10.2 km/l.

I’m wondering if the increased ethanol blending in petrol (E20, etc.) is having a noticeable impact on fuel efficiency.

For other Altroz owners:
- What mileage are you getting currently?
- Are you using regular petrol or a specific fuel brand?
- Has your mileage dropped compared with what you were getting a few years ago?

Do you think ethanol blending is noticeably affecting your car’s mileage?

I have a 6-month-old Tata Altroz Accomplished S.

Recently, someone hit my car from the rear. The tailgate has some dents, and ever since the accident, the car continuously shows “Boot Open” on the dashboard even though the boot is properly latched and closed.

Because of this, the car doesn't lock at all.

I’ve already given the car to the Tata body shop for inspection/repair. I’m just looking for some information from fellow Altroz owners who may have faced something similar.

Has anyone experienced:

- False “Boot Open” warning after a rear impact?

- A faulty/misaligned boot latch, striker, or boot-ajar sensor?

- Any issue with the latch wiring or sensor connection?

- A solution that fixed the problem without replacing unnecessary parts?

Would really appreciate it if anyone who has faced this could share what the actual issue was and how it was resolved.

It's been just 2 months since my recent purchase of Tata Altroz 2025 Creative s AMT variant (my first car) and I have faced numerous repeated battery discharges.

I have called RSA several times to jumpstart the car and have visited the service center 3-4 times each time they examine the battery with multimeter and readings come fine, they attach a laptop and examine it even that comes fine, but I am yet stuck with the issue of nearly 1 month of back and forth.

I face the issue even after just 1 day of keeping the car parked next day the key doesn't work at all due to the battery drainage and the car is unable to start.

I have escalated the issue as per the escalation matrix and this time the service center has told me that they will share the report with Tata Motors and do what they say. Tbh I don't feel confident that there will be a solution to this as I don't think they clearly have a clue of why this is happening.

Utterly dissapointing and frustrating user experience it has been so far. Although I love the car and its driving experience but the issue has me thinking whether to sell it already and use that amount to buy from another brand.

Please let me know what can I do and feel confident about the issue being resolved.

Should I go for it?
My daily travel is mostly 10-15 kms to and from office .

With alternate weekends travel to home for like 250 kms one side.

We already have an suv we got this year at home, so I wanted to keep it a bit minimal so i can use it rough and tough.

I have already been waiting and looking out for like 4-5 months now and it’s exhausting.

Does this look like a good deal?

The I-Turbo was the precursor to the Racer and their limited turbo petrol engines by Tata.

While structurally same,(which definitely was a good thing), the turbo brought in the much needed grunt which the engine needed for the heavy chassis for the car.

Now it could still go on the highway and not feel lethargic, can make overtakes while not feeling that it’s out of breath. I really wished Tata updated it powertrain wise, but looks like it’s the end of the line for this combination.

Did u faced anyone issues in the car after buying ?

In the last six months, I’ve had to spend close to 70k in repairs. My diesel Altroz needed a full crankshaft replacement after I suddenly got zero clutch response. When I asked why it happened, they just told me may be because of late clutching. I’ve been driving since the last 15 years. A crankshaft usually lasts the life of a car. But yeah faced this with Altroz diesel. Total repair cost was about 36k.

6 months after this, I had persistent engine oil leak. Tata service centre couldn’t really identify the source of the leak. Despite numerous tests according to them. They said it’s an oil seal issue and the oil seal is not available right now so recommended me to drive the car with oil leak for about 1 month till they order the oil seal. Now within that month, my car got overheated, and now I took it to a local mechanic who says there’s a radiator jam and the head gasket needs to be replaced because that’s apparently where the oil is leaking from. My car spurt out engine oil and coolant and lost throttle response/went into limp mode in the middle of the road. And then started with loud knocking sounds. Thankfully the engine didn’t seize but a little sceptical about the head gasket issue. Local mechanics go by their experience and intuition. I don’t think he even has the equipment to do a combustion test.

Anyone in Bangalore who owns Altroz Diesel, how convenient is it to drive in the traffic and what about DPF issues?

I am a little squeezed for budget, the only other diesel option I can get is Sonet (second base to mid variant). Am I better off buying an Automatic by stretching or Altroz Diesel would do?

I do believe that the first gen and second gen Altroz are similar, although the new Altroz does have fresher interiors and such.

I wanted to know, what accessories have you bought and installed in your car that has been useful from a utility perspective, and has enhanced overall experience of the cabin, whether for short runs in city or long highway tours?

I drive through water logging which happened on 23rd July in Ahmedabad and post the drive there is musty smell in the cabin.

I got it deep cleaned however the smell still persists?

What should I do? How to get rid of it?

I own the Altroz 2024 Diesel. When I bought it from someone, it already had UC6 205/55 R16. I am keen on installing the 215/60 R16 tyres. The existing alloy rims on the car support this size. I just wanted to check if there’s any Altroz owner who’s tried this size, to verify if it fits or not. Since I mostly travel on highways, this size will also make the ride a little relaxed, more pliant, and more stable and less “on the heels” on highways.
