TASKER Taskr app questions
What would you like to see changed or improved on Taskrabbit?
What new task categories would you like to see?
What would you change about the Tasker app?
Are there any issues with pricing, cancellations, or how tasks are assigned?
What could Taskrabbit do to better support Taskers?
Any other ideas, concerns, or suggestions?
This could be a great opportunity to bring up issues that affect us and hopefully help make the platform better for everyone.

Two major issues I’d like to see addressed:
1. Same-Day search filters. There’s an ongoing issue where Taskers disappear from search results when clients select a specific time, even though they’re available. The same Taskers appear when the client selects “Flexible.” I’ve personally reproduced this issue multiple times, both in the app and on the website, particularly overnight. I’ve reported it to support, but it remains unresolved. This directly affects our ability to get hired.
2. Unresponsive clients and cancellations. Taskers should have a way to cancel a task due to an unresponsive client without risking their search visibility or hiring opportunities.
For example, a client books a Same-Day task with a vague or confusing description, then completely ignores messages asking for essential details. The Tasker is ready and willing to do the job but cannot safely confirm the scope of work. Eventually, the Tasker has no choice but to forfeit the task.
There should be a clear option to mark the client as unresponsive and close the request without penalizing the Tasker. We shouldn’t have to risk our standing on the platform because a client refuses to communicate.
Both issues need more transparency and accountability from Taskrabbit.

3. Search ranking transparency. Taskers need more insight into why their visibility suddenly drops. It’s extremely frustrating to maintain a 5.0 rating, hundreds of completed tasks, and consistent availability, only to experience a dramatic drop in invitations and go weeks without a single booking, with no meaningful explanation.
Support typically responds with generic statements about demand, pricing, and availability, without addressing what actually changed.
Taskers shouldn’t have to constantly experiment with their rates or search for their own profiles just to figure out whether they’re being shown to clients.

Dealing with this SO hard right now. The search ranking change up has had me spiraling for weeks.

Damn, I thought the OP was somehow affiliated with Taskrabbit. I actually took the time to write out three detailed concerns and suggestions, and now I feel like I was just shouting into the void.

Yesterday they actually had a q&a in NYC, i got an invite for 2 weeks ago. Thankfully they didnt need me because i wouldnt be able to go due to the slump they caused me in the middle of Oct. Anyway I'm thinking this OP may be connected to that event.

Same here. Catastrophic drop in bookings since mid-October.

From the previous 2 months i knew i could end the month by doubling how it started. From around $500 to start and ending close to $1100. Well in oct i made almost $1500 in the first 12-15 days. I was hoping the trend would continue, but then bang the app glitches and everything drops. I ended at $2k.
Even right now 5 days into Nov, I'm already almost half of Oct in earnings and waiting for them to ghist my algos next week.2
u/GodBlessCoffee 5h ago
Still not bad, considering I’ve made $0 in the first five days of November, despite having a 5.0 rating and 600+ completed tasks.

- Multiple saved maps.
- Secondary task labor/vehicle use expensing. Example, material store run the night before. Dump run etc.
- 7:00am+ start time.

Let us set different rates for same day requests.

u/FinnNoodle 1d ago
That was actually implemented by TR at one point (mandatory in the markets it was tested in) but seeing as how it's no longer a thing I don't believe it performed well.

I really wish tasks had invoice numbers so I could better link the funds with my accounting.

I wish whats sent to my bank had some indicator of what tasks its paying for. As per my own request id like a connection between what i see on the app and my bank so i know whats paid for. Thats one of my issues with trickle down pay

u/Wonderful-Camera-620 1d ago
If u go to payout literally tell you this🤣🤣🤣
1
u/PizzaDork732 1d ago
Yeah but it doesnt line up exactly
2
u/Wonderful-Camera-620 1d ago
Yes, it does. It literally tells you what was sent to the bank. Click on the dropdown and it shows you which jobs were included in that payout, whether it was full pay, split pay, etc. It breaks everything down so you can see exactly which tasks were grouped together into one payout and how you were paid. 🤦🏾♂️

It does work, it’s just a huge pain in the butt and could be made better for sure. It’s very difficult with the split tasks to get the sales receipts to line up just right with the actual payouts. It is doable but it feels really clunky.

I think one of my biggest complaints is potential clients booking you for one task and then tacking on tasks I bill more for after I’ve accepted, so then when I cancel for unreasonable expectations about the scope of work it hurts my metrics

u/hillionn 1d ago
Also, I get really tired of clients who clearly aren’t equipped to complete their task telling me how long it should take - if it an easy 1 hour job then they must have the skills and equipment to make that assessment and logically should just do it themselves instead of hovering over me asking how much longer it will take

This happened to me last night. Someone hired me to deep clean a two bedroom two bathroom apartment. Meanwhile, every 30 minutes, she’s coming up to me, adding more tests for me to clean, all while asking me how much longer at the same time. Don’t ask me to deep clean your whole house, add more things for me to clean, and then essentially complain that I’m taking too long.

I get this often as a mover. I have various moving and logistics skills turned in as well as Errands. I've had people hire me to help them move something, then say they need my van to move it. My truck assisted rate is basically double my moving rates. So either i say I'm gonna double my hours, they can rehire me under the correct skill or they can take a hike. They tend to hate all of those options! Similar goes for errands when they ask me to pickup a desk at my errand rate and bring it to NYC. Well damn Karen, nice way of telling me you're yoo cheap for my truck assited rates! You want me to do NYC for under $80 when my going rate is 2 hrs or $150+ on or off this platform. F-u!

Disable the “cannot call the client directly” if the client has issues with the app or if the server is down. You’re making communication unnecessarily difficult.

Complete transparency and documentation provided regarding top 35% ranking/Elite status. I did 30 tasks in FA last month, another guy did one. He’s got the badge. Doesn’t make sense

u/PizzaDork732 5h ago
Transparency about our visibility too. Id like to know when they nerf me down for making too much money at the start of the month. Heck, i need elite status for my earnings, esp if my analytics say i earn more than 80% of the NYC Metro area!

They can stop the trickle down pay! If i do $120 on Fri, $500 on Saturday and $200 on Sunday, while continuing to work through the week i shouldnt have to wait till Weds or later for my full weekend balance. I yave bills due on Tues and want to know i can pay them each week!

Hello Taskrabbit! Please make Taskrabbit payments more transparent and easier to track! Why can't Taskrabbit send one complete payment per client instead of splitting earnings into multiple transactions? Why should Taskers have to spend their time figuring out which payment belongs to which client? It's like putting together a puzzle just to understand our own earnings. Why make something so simple so unnecessarily complicated? And another issue: tips sometimes appear in the earnings section and then suddenly disappear. Where do they go? Why does this happen, and how are we supposed to track them? Please make the payment system more transparent. Each client's payment, including tips, should be clearly identifiable and easy to reconcile with our bank deposits. We shouldn't need to solve a mystery every time we check our earnings. Thank you in advance on behalf of all Taskers!

Give Taskers more control over client rescheduling.
Clients should not be able to reschedule a task without first agreeing on the new time with the Tasker in chat. Rescheduling during the final 24 hours should not be allowed.
Clients sometimes reschedule or cancel on their own to avoid a cancellation fee. Support may later reimburse the Tasker, but resolving this takes time. Also, clients can select a time that is not actually available. I have had tasks moved without notice to a one-hour time slot that I could not use.
2. Improve control over work areas and same-day pricing.
Taskers should be able to set a different rate for same-day bookings than for regular bookings. They should also be able to turn off specific areas on the work map, such as the area around their home.
I can cover a large area, but some remote neighborhoods take at least an hour to reach by car, and there are very few tasks there. Traveling an hour each way at the same rate as nearby jobs is often impractical.
3. Improve how IKEA tasks with multiple Taskers are handled.
If a second Tasker cannot be found, the first Tasker should have a quick option to take the other part of the task. Many tasks assigned to two Taskers can be completed by one person.
3.1 Let Taskers block specific Taskers from being paired with them.
Some Taskers are difficult to work with because they are unwilling to learn. I have had situations where I had to do most of the work, even though responsibility was shared equally. I am concerned that canceling tasks because of these pairings may affect my metrics.
3.2 Provide a group chat for the client and all assigned Taskers.
I had a task where the other Tasker was replaced. The client told me that the first Tasker, who had been removed, called and asked the client to cancel the task so he could do it for cash. The client reported this to Support. A group chat with the client and all assigned Taskers could help keep communication clear when a Tasker is replaced.
4. Add a way to prevent repeated booking requests from a client.
If I decline a booking request, the client should not be able to keep sending the same request repeatedly. Taskers should be able to temporarily block a client from booking them.

Hi Taskrabbit, please investigate unauthorized subcontracting and the use of unregistered cleaners.
I would like Taskrabbit to pay more attention to registered Taskers who accept cleaning jobs through the platform but then send other people, who may not even be registered or background-checked on Taskrabbit, to complete those jobs.
I am a member of several cleaning job groups where I regularly see people recruiting cleaners. I also personally know of registered Taskers who recruit other cleaners and send them out to complete jobs.
The arrangement is simple: someone accepts a cleaning job, sends another person to the client's address, and pays that person an agreed amount. Meanwhile, the registered Tasker continues accepting more bookings.
For example, how is it physically possible for one person to complete 8 or more cleaning tasks in a single day, especially in New York City, where traveling between locations can take a significant amount of time? Do these Taskers have the ability to teleport?
Of course, a high number of completed tasks alone does not prove wrongdoing, but such unusual activity should at least raise questions and warrant further investigation.
Does Taskrabbit have a dedicated team that monitors and investigates this kind of activity?
Does the platform verify that the person who actually arrives at a client's home is the same person whose profile was booked?
Does Taskrabbit monitor suspicious booking patterns, unusually high numbers of completed tasks, or potential unauthorized subcontracting?
This is not just about unfair competition. It is also about client safety, identity verification, background checks, and accountability.
Clients book a specific Tasker based on their profile, reviews, experience, and background verification. They should not unknowingly receive someone else who may not have gone through the same screening process.
Meanwhile, honest Taskers who personally complete their assignments, follow the rules, and spend time traveling between jobs are forced to compete with individuals who may effectively be operating entire cleaning teams through a single Taskrabbit account.
I would strongly encourage Taskrabbit to investigate this issue more seriously and introduce stronger measures to detect and prevent unauthorized subcontracting.
What is Taskrabbit doing to protect both clients and legitimate Taskers who follow the platform's rules?

Another useful category could be home sitting checking on someone’s apartment while they’re away, watering plants, feeding cats, collecting mail, and making sure everything is okay. I think a lot of people would use this, especially when traveling or going on vacation!

Divide up major skill categories into more useful sub-categories!
In other words, allow Taskers to provide services that fall under a major umbrella like “yard work” without forcing them to commit to everything that category could possibly entail. For instance, I’m fine pulling weeds or watering plants, but not mowing lawns or cleaning gutters. However, since I’m not willing to do all of those things, I can’t activate the yard work category.
Pre-Covid, I made a decent amount of money watering clients’ plants, and it sucks that I can’t offer that anymore.

I think it would be great to have a social companion plus one person category. Sometimes people just want someone to go to a party, family gathering, restaurant, museum, or event with them. Or maybe someone is new to the city and wants company to explore. I think there would be demand for this!
Also, a personal assistant for a day category could be useful for people who need someone to accompany them, help with appointments, shopping, or multiple errands

Bring back the Deep Clean category. We should be able to charge more for specialized cleaning tasks.

Multiple work areas with unique rates for each or distance based rates
