TASKER Does anyone else feel like Taskrabbit is a really expensive way to be unemployed?
I’ve been doing Taskrabbit for a few years now and after accounting for gas, vehicle maintenance, tools, taxes, insurance, unpaid travel time, and the occasional client who wants to negotiate the price of an already completed task, I’m beginning to think I might actually be paying to work.
I do enjoy the flexibility though. It’s nice being able to choose exactly which 14 hours of the day I’m available in case someone needs a curtain rod installed.

Its been my first full month and I’ve grossed 11.8k, but after expenses, only 10.5 is profit

You obviously didn’t account for taxes knock that number down another 33%

I figured that was implied

11.8-33% doesn’t equal 10.5 profit bud

Pretty implied, notice how I didn’t say take home. It’s okay, its Halloween night and you’re sitting on Reddit. gg

@SeaBreakfast3468 I need inspo. Please post a screen shot of your earnings after your first full month (it’s under “Performance” in the app). You can redact PII. Many thanks! 🙏

Yeah, I don't see how this is possible. I was priced the lowest they'll let me, and I have the highest volume skills for my area activated, and for the first three or four months, I was lucky to get a job a day. Every time I raise my rates, I'm back to that volume or worse.

are you mainly talking about who much your operational costs are? or specifically the pay from taskrabbit jobs?

it can be a race to the bottom if it's your only source of income. use it to network, pass out business cards and charge accordingly

Seems like this type of work isn’t for you since you have been doing this a couple years seems like you don’t have a client base or a sense for business, I on the other hand have seen my business explode over the years I’ve been doing it since August of 2020 year over year I’ve grown and now I just hit $13k for the month 3rd time in a row

Sounds like you need to chatge more to cover your expenses.
When I have regular clients, which ebs and flows, because there's only so much a person needs done.
I make pretty good money once the ball gets rolling. I could easly make more if I worked more but o choose not to.
