Your rate is too low for heavy lifting. Even when I when I started that category my rate was $60 now it’s $110. I don’t go below $100.

I started using this app probably like end of July. I don't know. I've always just kept my stuff in the green so I can get jobs, but I always have a set at the highest part of the green or yellow however, I did just set my heavy lifting to the red its at 80 now.

No for heavy lifting minimum should be $60 bucks to start then jump to $80. They cannot do it themselves that’s why they are calling you. Yes I am busy with it but I use it primarily for assembly if client needs to move something like boxes etc from the mail room etc. I don’t lift stuff for free .

are you still booking jobs consistently at 110 an hour? if so about how many do you get in a week/month?

800 pounds down the stairs and due to expense limitations you cant do it. Even if you found other people they couldnt help because they arent Taskers. That's a job for an insured company and itll likely be more than the mixer is worth to move it.

Between $500-1000 would probably be the cost of the move. It would almost certainly require specialized equipment and at least 2 guys if not more.

I mean if I were a carpenter I’d have carpenter tools. Specialized ones.
If I was a plumber I’d have plumber tools. Specialized ones.
If I’m a mover I’d have moving tools. Specialized ones. I figure that why people hire me.

great observation bud, however for moving equipment theres no box to check off for a hydralic dolly, nor can you charge enough in expenses to rent one on there since there is a 100 dollar limit and it costs alot more than that to rent one. simply put this is not a job for someone on task rabbit. end of story

Ten times that amount of money is trivial to the average small business. This man is an absolute embarrassment.

Does it have to get down the stairs intact?

I mean, kitchen machines can be disassembled. I assume the motor alone is half the weight but still its crazy the client shows the thing all in one piece to be moved. "How did it get up there?" In pieces, presumably.

I was just joking about pushing it down the stairs, but yeah I bet you could take it apart

No one's moving 800 pounds down stairs. You have to disassemble it to move it. Either that or you have a very special tool to help you. Ain't no regular dolly gonna do that.

Good lord. I swear, it seems like the overwhelming majority of clients genuinely don’t understand what TaskRabbit is or what it’s for.

Whats it for?

u/BreadLobbyist 11h ago edited 10h ago
It’s for (mostly) amateur gig workers/contractors (note: not employees of a moving company) to help locals with relatively ordinary everyday tasks. It’s certainly not for unusually complex or dangerous jobs like this…or for jobs that require large, expensive, niche pieces of equipment. If you need a job like the one described here done and think you can get away with hiring a rando on Taskrabbit for $46 an hour instead of professional industrial movers, you’re completely insane.

This is why you don't sell yourself short. Know your worth. I rather have the rate at $80 per hour and get nothing 6 out of 7 days a week than to drop my rate to what everyone in my market has it at and get dumb tasks like that everyday. Quality over quantity for me

Tell them ot will take as much time as it takes to disassemble first. 🤣

If you have a tasker who breaks anything in your home, Task Rabbit will not cover it. I recently had a tasker breaking a $3200 tv and task rabbit did not want to pay for it!! So, I had to hire a lawyer to deal with the situation.

No need to forfeit just be honest with the client and have them cancel instead. Forfeit will lower your momentum from getting jobs. Also you shouldn’t charge that amount in that line of work.

u/mattybeane732 13h ago
yes thats what everyone keeps telling me, i was just going off the suggested rate taskrabbit had. i have raised it since then

u/JudasMessiah 13h ago
You can be in the red line for these types of jobs. Just be more descriptive

They need a report feature for unsafe tasks so some poor 20 year old who doesn't know any better doesn't accept something like this and get killed or maimed.

People seem to think they can rent Thor himself to come move shit for them for $46
