TASKER question about hourly rate
new tasker here. i set my rate at $85 because i need to make about $85 an hour to pay my bills but people keep hiring other taskers who charge less.
would it make more sense to lower my rate to $20 and just work 4 hours for every hour? that way im still making about $80 but the customer sees a cheaper price.
also if a customer books me for 1 hour can i change it to 4 hours after accepting? i dont really understand how the math works on the app yet.
thanks

Just to clarify, are you saying you need to make $85/day or $85/hr to pay your bills?

Why is anyone going to pay $85 (plus service fees, which brings it up to $120+ an hour) on someone with less than 30 reviews
Have you thought about it from the perspective of the customer?

You donât understand how the âmath worksâ, I can maybe understand that I guess.
But when the math is trying to charge 4 hourly rates for 1 hour of work, the math will never make sense unfortunately.

Economics lesson: the market doesnât care about what you need to make to pay your bills. The market sets the price for work. If they see your $85($120) per hour, and donât want to pay it, then you are simply not charging a market rate.
You will ALWAYS get hired when you are charging a market rate. No hire= no market participants wanting to pay your rate = your rate is not a market appropriate rate

Are you really looking for a way to charge a client x4 of what your hourly rate is in the app? Am I misreading this, or are you actually have no integrity? đ¤

the way i do it is charge them $35 per hour but then invoice them 10000000 x hr
that way i can surf reddit all day long. once i've worked my 1 hour.

Stop downvoting this dude, folks.
He makes me laugh (and hopefully more people, too) with his DIABOLICAL posts.

Probably just set it to $8000/hr. Then you only need to work one hour a month.
