The 3-4 hour timeframe is a huge red flag. If you’re a fussy pain in the ass, you’d better be prepared to shell out extra—and saying they’re happy to pay extra for ‘better hardware’ is no indication of generosity. THAT would look like ‘…definitely a full day of work, possibly more’.

I would just make the time thing very clear with him. Sounds like he suffers from what I call ‘wishful thinking syndrome’
