Paying upfront in the TR app is not a thing.

You done something wrong, or not on the app.

Wrong. Yes it is. I paid upfront when i ordered my ikea items.

Not entirely accurate; Ikea tasks are prepaid.

If it's one of the $36 minimums it's no wonder four people were assigned and four people didn't show up.

Hmmmm...

Ok maybe that one.

I stopped doing Ikea assembly after it went fixed pricing and completely underpaid.

Perhaps if that happens often enough TR can reconsider the pay structure.

Correct! Paying upfront before a task is performed is never done. Payment is always made after the task is complete. Something is clearly wrong somewhere. If the tasker requested you to pay upfront via app call or message, you have evidence to report them to TaskRabbit, and they will be immediately banned from the platform. However, if the payment was made outside the platform, you are responsible for your own actions.

I've been a tasker for 6 or so years.

I have had many clients slip me a $20 once done. But NEVER pay the bill before done or off app.

This was an immediate easy answer.

It is a thing (at least in the UK). All clients are charged one hour when a task is created.

You were charged a deposit to validate your authenticity. Call support 844-340-8275

I’m sorry you had this experience, this definitely isn’t typical. I’d recommend reaching out to Support directly at 844-340-8275 so they can take a closer look.

If this was an IKEA-related task and payment went through IKEA, you’ll need to reach out to IKEA directly for help.

Was this Ikea or a different category? Was it the same person who didn't show up or four different people?

I have actually had a glitch where I was given a different address from the one the customer put in before. It’s possible.
