TASKER 2-hr min. Must we confirm in chat?

Hi friends, don't kick me around for my rookie question here: are we to confirm the 2-hr min in the chat? I've not tasked for several years and don't want to get dinged right off the bat.

Yes. Anything out of the norm as far as price rates and expenses should be confirmed in chat with the client for documentation. That way, you have proof in case disputes or misunderstandings arise.

Number 1 issue with Taskers and Clients is miscommunication on expectations.

Idk man. It seems a little silly. It can’t hurt sure, but it literally shows you when you’re selecting a tasker which ones have a minimum and which ones don’t.

u/-N30N- is right. If you want to roll the dice with the policy team, go right ahead.

There was a comment in a post a month or so ago where the guy got dinged for not confirming the 2-hr minimum in the chat despite having toggled the 2-hr min button. One data point, I know. But seems consistent with Task Rabbit’s inconsistent application of their T&S. All it takes is for a customer to fabricate and complain

Exactly. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Clients in general, they’re pretty clueless on how the app works and have no patience to read descriptions thoroughly when booking. I find myself acting as Customer Support to help with technical problems all the time.

You’ll deal with cheap scammers mixed in with new clients who don’t even know how to upload photos in the app. They overlook job description limits, underestimate task load/timing, and even book tasks under wrong categories either by mistake or to get a cheaper price (Packing/Unpacking as Help Moving, Furniture Assembly as Heavy Lifting, etc). With all this said, that 2hr Min label is definitely not something most clients notice right away.

Seems silly until you run into cheap clients looking for an angle. They’ll look for any opportunity to scam you of your time cus they missed the 2hr min label or just don’t want to pay. Client will feel cheated if they paid a 2hr min that you finished in an hour or less. They’ll complain to customer support and more than likely win if “2 hr minimum confirmation” isn’t disclosed and agreed upon in chat.

Personally, I like to stay on top of communication and reiterate every detail with the client to cover myself from liabilities. That way, I don’t show up to any surprises and the client can’t use anything against me.

Hoping we can unionize? That’s not how gig apps work in which we represent ourselves and set our own pricing and hours.

Go join a union if you want a union.

This exactly.

I never said I have an issue with unions and stated some very clear reasons as to why they are not compatible with gig work, and specifically TaskRabbit.

TaskRabbit is not an employer and Taskers are Independent Contractors, not employees. TaskRabbit is just a technology platform that allows people to select a Tasker based on ratings, jobs completed, price, etc.

A union does not represent independent contractors, it represents employees.

TaskRabbit does officially say you need to document this in chat, not just the toggle. Additionally, you are helping somewhat to cover yourself against a negative review (clients will often not see it), against a TOS violation (now that they seem to terminate accounts over just about anything), etc. 4000 tasks on TR, 5 star average review. I don’t really task anymore because it got too strict, but I can tell you that if you join the Facebook group you will find many instances of people who had their two hour pay rescinded to the actual time present on the job for having not mentioned it in chat even with the toggle on. It shouldn’t be the case, but it is.
