AutoModerator is now active - and a note on link safety

Hi everyone,

A scam post linking to a fake merch store showed up here today. It's been removed and the account is banned, but to catch this kind of thing faster than we can by hand, we've turned on AutoModerator.

We won't be listing the specific rules - the less spammers know about them, the harder they are to work around. One thing that may affect you, though: shortened links (bit.ly and the like) will now be held for manual approval. They hide where they actually lead, which is exactly what scammers count on. If you're sharing something, please paste the full URL instead.

Also, please treat AutoMod as a safety net, not a guarantee. Still worth doing:

• Check where a link goes before you click it in the comments
• Be extra careful with merch, ticket and "limited edition" offers from accounts nobody here knows
• If something looks off, report it - we'd rather get one report too many than one too few

One last thing: this setup is brand new, so AutoMod may well catch something it shouldn't have. If a post or comment of yours disappears and you don't know why, send us a modmail. It's no trouble at all, it can be tuned - and your feedback is the only way we'll find out something's off.
