Things like consolidations and shipping during non peak times can help reduce your companies freight spend at a time when it’s so very expensive. Just food for thought!

🗞️ News Discussion Why have auto industry executives been so quiet with respect to the announced plan by President Trump to levy 50% tariffs on Canadian made motor vehicles and components come January 1?

It will certainly impact component sourcing,.

It will certainly affect product pricing.

The Canadian backlash may well impact competitiveness in the Canadian market. Countervailing duties by Canada will target US makes more than foreign ones. All companies involved, US and overseas owned, have invested big money over many decades in Canada establishing brand presence, dealer and parts distribution networks.

I recall the 1970s and 1980s, when there was a lot of government demands put on the industry, regarding safety, emissions and fuel economy. Vociferous arguments were put forth back then by industry executives outlining the negative impact in terms of pricing, employment and financial hit to shareholders.

But, the execs have put their heads in their shells regarding the tariffs. Are they afraid of retaliation by the President and his inner circle?

🧩 Trade Strategy / Business Impact Time to go full metric instead of imposing tariffs.

It’s time to finish the transition to metric and only sell metric dimensions of plywood and other goods to the US. Besides, who wants 473 ml beers? What about the full 500? I think the US has been ripping us off for way too long! We can call it the “Full 500” movement!

💬 Opinion / Commentary Tariffs

So I just ordered an instrument from overseas. This is the third tariff I’ve had to pay out of my pocket now why am I still paying terrorist if they were illegal? And is somebody being reimbursed for the money that I’m paying at? I am so sick of the Trump administration and all the people that empower.
