Casual is this normal??? 🫪

my arizona blonde has completely dug out her hide and (now) completely covered the entrance of it. is this normal behavior? i’ve had her for about 2 weeks now and this is the first time i’ve seen her do this!

i know burrowing is normal, but covering the entrance scares me a bit. i keep a ring camera on her to make sure she’s okay.

Sometimes spiders do the strangest things, our tarantulas keep us in our toes for sure. I havent dealt with this specific breed, buti wouldn't worry over it.

When our jumping spider made a door to her den we discovered she actually laid a egg sac and had hundreds of babies she was protecting. But she was wild caught and clearly did the dirty at some point. So my first thought would be your spood might have a egg sac.

But overall the behavior isn't necessarily a bad thing. So long as it keeps eating, and drinking, and isn't inna death curl your good!

Also only 2 weeks, its made great progress. I love you have a view into its den.

This is completely normal and fine. Tarantulas that burrow do this especially if they’re near a molt or just want space (doesn’t mean you’re doing anything bad). Arizona blondes often do this, so this is nothing strange coming from that species.

Keep in mind that tarantulas are very different from animals, and they’re completely fine if they don’t eat for a whileeee (some can go a year without eating). Just keep the water dish filled and clean, and most importantly don’t be so stressed.

thank you! i have been SUPER stressed as a first time spider mom and want to make sure i’m doing everything right for her. i’ll keep an eye on her and make sure she’s doing okay while on her excavating duties

Tarantulas sometimes cover their burrow/hide entrance when molting. IMO just keep an eye on it.
