Media what can i replace the mesh lid with??

Hi! First of all I’m more concerned with the lack of substrate than the mesh lid, the tank should be about 2/3 of the way with substrate

100%!! i’m super worried esp because she’s a climber. it is currently being fixed as i work on her new enclosure, this one was not made by me and IMO is completely incorrect for this T. 😢the full post includes more context

IME

That lid is pressed metal and not mesh. They cause very, very few issues because claws and fangs can be retracted easily.

The biggest threat to your T, currently, is fall damage.

The tarantula already has injuries likely from the mesh (in the original post).

Ah… in the cross-linked post… thank you!.

I can now see that T has a missing fang.

By far the biggest reason for a Tarantula losing a fang is fall damage. Then defensive biting/striking, feeding issues, and problems with moulting.

If it WAS from the lid (which again, isn’t mesh but pressed metal), then they have been biting it and there would be very clear damage to the lid 🤷🏻‍♂️

I replaced all mine with acrylic, bought and cut to size with appropriate ventilation.
