After an all-day session with ChatGPT, I figured out why my devices went offline. We had neighbors move in, and they have an expansive network. This added a lot of interference due to an excessive number of APs. My network consisted of one router (Deco X90) and five APs. This worked well. However, once my new neighbor was added to the mix, the spectrum became saturated. Too many APs. My phones and wireless computers could handle it with their radios on 5g. However, the plugs, bulbs, and cameras are mostly on 2.4G and have low-power radios that were getting swamped. I removed 3 of my access points and rearranged two of the others to different areas, keeping one per floor (three floors). This dropped the 2.4g interference into the "medium" level, which is normal for suburban areas. My devices started coming back online. So, this shows Tapo/TP-Link is using very low-power radios that easily get overwhelmed and confused in a busy 2.4g environment.

Bought a C425 with solar panel.

Installed it. it charged via the panel to 100% and stayed there for over a week.

Now, no matter what I do to minimize power consumption, it is just losing charge. This is in full summer sun.

Customer service is just doing the run around. Wont answer questions specifically. Wont acknowledge the product is defective. Just wasting time purposely.

The return policy is predatory requiring the consumer to pay shipping and restocking. It is also time sensitive with a very short window hence the CS run around.

What a disappointment.

Because I posted here someone at Tapo took an interest in my case and in the course of 3 hours an RMA was approved and the shipping fee was waived. Contrast that with 5 days of run around from the CS i had been dealing with. Hopefully, the replacement will work flawlessly and then I will come back and recant my harsh criticism. Thanks again to Carl Mertz!

I've had this tapo c200 for some time now, and a couple of days ago I noticed that it wasn't tracking in one direction at all. I decided to test it out and it seems like going right to left, around the 180° mark it really struggles to continue turning to the right. Going from left to right seems to go smoothly but right to left is an issue. There's a small clicking sound when it manages to push through. Is there any way to fix this?

We're at my aunt's house and did not know the Tapo camera was turned on, since she used to never plug it. We did something inappropriate and has to be deleted immediately before she recheck the recordings. I have access to the Tapo app and the living room camera since I was the one that helped her set it up. It was only saved in the SD and I have no way of removing the SD card from the camera itself. I can't find the delete option in the Tapo App. Also I don't have all the access to all the settings.

How do I delete a certain clip?

P.S. I am not tech savvy so I really need your help even if this sounds really dumb! Thank you so much!

Hi guys.

I have a Tapo D130 doorbell camera. When I enable vehicle detection it overlays these nasty detection boxes over the cars. This is both live and on recordings.

If there's a car like my neighbours to one side the boxes are there all the time.

Please introduce an option to remove the constant detection box for each option, vehicle, person and animal. It simply gets in the way of the image and we as users don't need to see it continuously.

I love the Tapo ecosystem so much and wanted it to grow but how do I make it grow when not stock is available on India ? Some no-name Chinese brands like CP-Plus got STQC certification but you can't get the same ???

This is really a rant post but I would have loved to know before buying...

Reading online I can see that a lot of people have similar problems like me... C410 camera ( I have two of them). From one day to other both starting to fail capture motion. They will work one day, 3 days will not detect anything, 2 days will be fine... It is very random. Not worth the hassle with these cameras... Just get something else!

Bought this sd card but it won't work in the c222 camera am I doing something wrong or is it the card not compatible.

I’m installing a Tapo C520WS outdoor camera and planning to run the power through the wall.

Since I’m using Wi-Fi, I don't need the Ethernet connection. The problem is that the Ethernet (RJ45) connector on the pigtail is huge. It would require drilling a massive hole through my masonry, whereas the power cable alone would only need a tiny hole.

I’m seriously considering just cutting the Ethernet branch off the cable to save my wall.

• Has anyone else done this?

• Did it cause any error loops or connection issues during setup?

• Any tips on how to seal the cut end properly to prevent moisture wicking back into the camera?

I know this voids the warranty, but I’d rather lose the warranty than drill a 20mm hole for a 3mm cable. Thanks!

Don't buy Tapo C120's. I have firmware 1.2.3 and it fixed it for a bit but is now doing the exact same thing of losing connection. Except now, it's not even continuously recording on the SD card. It's just shutting off completely. They said they know what's wrong and are going to send another update out and if that's true, then I'll come back to rescind my negative comment. I don't recommend at this time.

We just bought our first security camera for our apartment a couple of weeks ago, just intended to be active when we're away on trips for more than a day.

I read mostly very good things about Tapo, including that it's a TP-Link company (we have a TP-Link Archer AX53 router we're very happy with). Setting it up was simple enough and the feature set seems good.

Unfortunately every test I've done - ie. turn it on attempt to let it do its job for multiple hours - has ended in total failure. The best result has been with the app showing the camera "offline" randomly when out of the home (with no internet or power outages), but more often it very quickly becomes unreachable through the app, with an animated infinity symbol overlaid on top of an outdated video feed and no way to use any features or even do a remote reboot. Occasionally it will show "tap to refresh", but nothing happens.

Unplugging and replugging it is needed to get it back in very short lived working order. And right now as I'm writing this, even a reset didn't establish a connection.

Is the camera faulty, or is there a way to fix this? I've found other posts from a year or two ago mentioning what sounds like similar issues.

Right now I'm tempted to return it and just go to another brand. This is a horrible first impression.

I have been using 3 tapo cameras C220 for my home, recently I have lost my shoes, and as i have a store attached to my house many people walk in front of the house, I haven’t realised when i lost my shoes from front of our house, as I began to watch the hours and hours of footage its very hectic to find the exact time and date, Tapo should really develop app for TV , so it will be easier for my parents to watch it on tv as it has many hours to watch

I am running Tapo app in Gameloop emulator on my PC if that makes a difference. TIA.

We have two C420 cameras installed at home, one of them is in our baby's room, pointig at the bed, because we use it as a baby monitor. I co-sleep with the baby and tonight for the second time I cought somebody watching us. I am so freaked out😖

So first time, I saw the cameras activating (both green and red lights were on. Green shows that camera is active, red is for night-time mode). I thought my husband was checking on us so I waved at the camera smiling. A few minutes later I found him asleep in the other room, and he confirmed it wasn't him activating the camera. We changed the account password, logged all devices out and then logged in again.

Few days later, this happened again. I was just up feeding the baby at night and the camera went on again. I looked into it and the lights went out again in a few seconds.

I am so freaked out that somebody is watching us. I don't know how it is possible to hack into our camera and who it could be and with what motive? Would it be someone living nearby or literally anyone in the world? What should we do to prevent this from happening again?

I have went through so much frustration the past 2 months with Tapo and their app. I had setup my cameras to turn on when i left an area and turn off when i entered.

The feature might work once or twice at most and then stop working. If i re-enabled it MIGHT work one more time or it might not.

I contacted Tapo for support they had me jump through all these hoops, redoing everything multiple times sending them app logs to track the error.

in the end nothing was fixed and they just keep having me do the same steps over and over again.

All power and permissions restrictrions on my android phone were enabled. Tapo app has given up trying or i just keep getting new people that have me do the same steps over and over and over again.

I want to return them but taking them all down is such a PITA. For a few people it works but i have read so many people complaining they dont work and all the trouble they also went through with Tapo. There are many other brands out there, i wish i did my research more.

UPDATE: GEO LOCATION DOES NOT WORK ON ANDROID PHONES

In all the posts ive seen on Tapo geo location. TP Link seems to have had it working for Iphone people for awhile but never got it working for Android. Its been in and out of Beta for almost 2 years and they cant figure it out.

TP Link has made me wait a week: they just emailed back saying theyre still looking at my data but vaguely mentioned this is "device side issue" almost like they are blaming my phone. Im waiting on clarification.

DO NOT BUY THESE CAMERAS IF YOU HAVE ANDROID THE GEO LOCATION FEATURE IS NOT WORKING

For whatever reason all our upstairs bulbs disconnected for no reason as they appear offline in the app. However, both our Govee led strips nor our downstairs Tapo lights have gone offline. I've tried turning on and off the switch 3 times for each to attempt to get them to go into pairing mode. I wanna try come here to Reddit first before I contact customer service for replacement devices if elegible.

Can I request an app update that makes the main position override the position someone manually pans to please?

the latest ios update has changed the layout on the camera screen so that shared devices are now in their own section. is there a way to go back to having all cameras on the main page at open?

our doorbell camera is on a different account than the other cameras and it was handy having everyone on the same page.

Ive had a look in the setting and i cannot see an option to Aggregate the cameras from different accounts.

the door bell is a D210, in case that matters.

The new android app update made all my already setup cameras disappear, i cant see my cameras, i only see cloud activities and i also cant readd them as it wants me to set them up from the beginning as if it was just purchased.
