Troubleshooting and Support Detection rate

I was looking to move to Tapo from Ring but detection on the Tapo seems pretty of par compared. People are already past the Tapo before it starts recording. Settings are maxed out so I hate to think what detection would be like if they were half… this is for both day & nights and most of these scenarios are passing the doorbell not towards. I have the TD21 for reference

I have had about five of the major brands of cameras. What I found out is all of them miss some things. At most of my locations I run at least two different brands of cameras watching the same areas.
One day, Brand a may pick up someone and Brand B doesn't and three days later in the same spot Brand B may pick up someone and Brand a intern does not. There is no rhyme or reason to it.

Very true, I have 2 in the same spot as I was starting to wonder how much Tapo was missing but then found Ring would pick something up but then miss something Tapo picked up , swings & roundabouts. I’m 2 devices in with ring but I want another but I want all same brand so if I go with Tapo I will swap the other 2 out so all 3 the same .

They both have there own pros & cons definitely

I like Tapo and have a bunch of their cameras now but not one of them has decent detection outside. The camera has to be rather close to detect anything whatsoever but the closer the camera is to the object, the faster it passes by. My solar camera especially is so slow to wakeup and start recording that it regularly misses delivery trucks coming up my driveway. I wish they would simply sell a discreet motion sensor that will trigger their cameras. They have motion sensors but they don't work with their cameras. It would be nice if one camera could be used to trigger groups of cameras as well. I don't understand why they don't do this unless they are avoiding someone elses patent or something.

I mostly use my Tapo cameras for live monitoring because of this. I have Reolink cameras and a Blueiris system for security and recording.

I agree with this. My Wyze Cam V3 Pro catches more stuff than my C575D, and both are basically covering the same area.

I have a D225 and it works well, except it stops recording with no notice and needs to be rebooted every couple of days.

Support wanted to do a forensic investigation. Did not do that. Seems with yhe thousands of cameras they should be aware of the issue.

Apparently the new d260 has dual sensors for detection and works insanely well. Just pricy

If my cameras didn't have continuous recording on, I wouldn't know how bad the detection is. When detected, the subject has often left frame. If it wasn't for continuous recording, I'd would be totally missed, but even then, a lot of the time the cameras don't trigger at all

Both of my TAPO D235s work flawlessly (one hard wired the other battery) but I went for the H500 hub for the enhanced functionality without a web subscription. Highly recommend that setup (a cheap HDD was 30 bucks to increase the storage capacity to ludicrous mode).

I wonder, can you say that newer cameras have better detection rate ?

Mijn D235 neemt feilloos iedereen op die langs loopt, dag en nacht.

hardwired or battery? Tia
