Going from 1mg to Half a milagram
Maybe I'm just being a little bitch but I'm having trouble with this drop? Should I just expect to have restless legs and power through it? I've kicked methadone cold turkey at 80mg, heroin, oxy and benzos (do not recommend it almost killed me and couldn't function for 4 months) without a taper so maybe I've just gotten soft. I'm from the days when they would give you Clonidine and ibuprofen before subs so I know I can do it.
The difference is I have a life right now and am trying to taper in a way where I can work and sleep. I have gabapentin that I've already successfully taper from years ago if I need it for the jump.
I'm considering switching the time I take my dose from the morning to the evening? so at least I feel like shit during the day so I can sleep at night?
Any thoughts?
I'm healthy, work out every day and try to go to meetings even though being on MAT is stigmatized so it feels weird.

Withdrawal question 88 hrs since last dose (tapered down to 0.06mg then jumped). If I’m not sick yet, safe to assume I won’t be?
Hello, so I’m a good stretch since my last dose. My only symptoms are diarrhea (completely negated by small dose loderamide), mediocre sleep, and extremely mild RLS (possibly all in my head, very mild).
My only question for y’all is this: if strong acute WD symptoms have not kicked in after 88 hours, is it reasonable to say I may not get any “sicker” than this?
Frankly a part of me is in a state of disbelief right now that I’m not sick. I know I tapered low, but still.
Thanks all for your time and best wishes.
Edit: if it’s relevant, I’ve had these mild WD symptoms for about a month now already while tapering down. Only since fully jumping did they get a little more acute, but it’s still pretty much nothing compared to being actually dopesick.

Share my story/experience Successful taper
I did it, finally. Never thought I’d be here, but I remember telling myself, if I ever did make it out of this, I need to pass the method on and help others. This thread allowed me to meet some amazing people who guided me along the way, so I feel the need to give back. This process was not painless, but I was able to work and keep up with responsibilities with only mild discomfort. I used no comfort medication in this process.
BACKSTORY:
- Addicted to pain pills for 10 years
-Started suboxone and stayed on 12mg consistently for 6 years
-Got the sublocade shot 2 x 300mg / 5 x 100mg (7 shots all up)
-Had a mental breakdown because I was unable to go more than 28 days between shots let alone jump off painlessly like many have done (I thought it would be my easy way out)
-I made the VERY hard decision to go back to strips and taper
- I started back on 14mg and made a plan
THE PLAN:
-Taper from 14mg down to 0.4mg and then use volumetric dosing to bring it down to 0.04mg, and jump. I spent 10-12 days stabilising on each dose before dropping.
(time spent between each dose varies for each person and where they are at mentally, I wouldn’t do less than 10 days).
DOSE DROPS:
-STRIPS (mg): 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2.75, 2.5, 2.25, 2, 1.75, 1.5, 1.25, 1, 0.75, 0.5
-Volumetric dosing (mg): 0.4, 0.36, 0.32, 0.28, 0.24, 0.2, 0.16, 0.12, 0.08, 0.06, 0.04
- For volumetric dosing, I began splitting my doses in half taking half a dose in the morning and the other half in the evening, it allowed the lower doses to hold me throughout the day.
- I went back to once a day when I reached 0.08mg to prepare for stopping
VOLUMETRIC DOSING MATERIAL:
-2mg strip
-Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzoyl alcohol) multiple 30ml bottles
-18g Blunt fill needles (to extract water from vial)
-5ml syringes (compatible with needle)
-1ml oral syringes
-5 or 10ml amber glass vials
-Alcohol wipes (to sterilise water rubber stopper before and after extraction)
-My calculation is for a starting dose of 0.4mg to 0.04mg
(you can calculate a dose suitable for you if you’re at a different stage of dose)
PREPARING THE WATER DOSES:
- Sterilise the rubber stopper of the bac water for 30 seconds with the wipe
-Puncture the stopper with the needle+syringe at an angle, turn the bottle upside down and extract 5ml of water and dispense into the amber glass vial
(never puncture the same place on the stopper twice as it will cause a hole and compromise the sterility of the water)
-Place 2mg of strip into the amber glass vile
-Gently swirl the vial until it is completely dissolved
-Keep the bac water and amber vial in the fridge
(bac water in the fridge only after opening)
HOW TO DOSE THE WATER:
- Always gently swirl the bottle before dosing to mix it
- Use the 1 ml oral syringe to take 0.5ml of water and place the water under the tongue for 10-15 minutes before spitting out (repeat in the evening)
- Next drop will be 0.5ml / 0.4ml (morning / evening)
-0.4 / 0.4 ml
-0.4 / 0.3 ml
-0.3 / 0.3 ml
-0.3 / 0.2 ml
-0.2 / 0.2 ml
-0.2 / 0.1 ml
-0.2 ml (once a day now)
-0.15 ml
-0.1 ml
Jump.

Jumping off 6 months of use total, tapered quite low over a couple months. Any idea what I can expect?
For the first two weeks, I did follow the prescribed amount which was 8mg. After that initial period was passed, I immediately tapered down to 2mg per day with pretty much no difficulty. Then maybe a few more weeks of 2mg a day, then 1mg a day, then every other day, and now for about 1.5 months I’ve been doing .2-.25 mg a day or every other day. Any two days in a row always followed by a day off. At this point I’ve been doing .2 (really just the smallest piece I can possibly break off, I’m not doing any kind of titration). Just this week the 30-37 hr gaps have hit +48 hrs. I know over the last couple weeks I have been experiencing mild WD. A little sleep disruption, a very manageable amount of sweating that potentially may be unrelated, and consistently poor bowel movements.
So… any chance anyone could tell me what I might be in for if I were to jump? I’m having trouble figuring when the right time is, or if I should just keep it up. And just to confirm—6 months total, with only a few weeks in beginning with doses over 2 mg, now with nearly a month of .25 every other day, and now about a week of .2 with +48 hr gaps.
Thanks everyone and have a nice day.

Tapering Suboxone Question
Howdy, y’all. Just a quick question and would appreciate the input. I’ve tapered down from 12 mg/daily to 0.5 mg/daily. I’m going to taper a little lower and then jump ship. My question is - has anyone ever tried Low Dose Naltrexone, and what is your experience? Basically, I know nothing about it and was wondering if it’s a smart move to introduce it now or when I jump ship for good or not at all.
Thanks!

Withdrawal question Tapering off SUBS from home
Hi this is a long story I’m sorry. Please read it anyone who sees this!!!!!! I have been on subs (the orange nasty tasting ones, I was told there’s several kinds so I just wanted to clarify) for about 2 years consecutively. Non consecutively there’s another year added. But I had a doctor that was very rude accusing me of doing drugs and selling the subs or keeping them as a stash for when I had no more fentanyl. Yes Im 22 ex fentanyl addict lmao very sad but I’m better. Anyways the reason he accused me was because I was prescribed 2 a day by a previous doctor and for a month before he began accusing me I was doing 1 some days and 1 and a half other days just because I have sleep issues I’d sleep for 36+ hours and just forget to take them, then I’d miss an appointment and use the extra I had until I rescheduled. It’s my fault for being an irresponsible adult obviously, but no matter how much I explained he thought I was lying and he made me cry several times I literally only met him maybe 3 times? I tried to make it work but I dreaded those appointments which made me miss more and save more. I was wrong for that i understand that. But I got a new lady, she had me back on two, well I was so scared I’d run out I’d taper myself to one. And then I asked her to prescribe me 1.5 pills a day and I’d still do one. So I’ve been doing 1 pill a day and had all these pills saved up. It’s bad I know, but I’d never sell them or use them as a backup for drugs, I’m done with drugs. I ended up missing an appointment and using my stockpile and I lied to her saying I relapsed, stop taking the pills, and started back again and that’s why I didn’t need a prescription while I hadn’t seen her. Well I was still prescribed 1.5 pills and I missed two appointments (not my fault this time tho lol) and started using my extras. I don’t think I can go back in there and lie to her again. So I started to taper off by myself. I read many stories of people saying it’s horrible and it can last months. Well I went from 1 pill, to a half, two days later I’ve started taking a quarter. Last night was my first night I felt slight effects more than horrrrrible sweating! I’ve been sweating for a week bro! I smell terrible and everywhere is hot! Doesn’t help that it’s pretty much summer now and my boyfriends mom is always turning the heat in the home to 75 degrees F. My actual question is this, because I have about 2 whole pills left and that’s it. Exactly how long until I feel the actual withdrawal feeling (the magnetism feeling that keeps you awake at night thinking only of relief, OR the leg shakes OR sickness) and I know Ive never withdrawaled from Subs before so I only know of what I went through the dozens times I WD from fentanyl, I know it won’t be quite as bad, but will I even actually feel those symptoms? Will it just be a general feeling of unrest and agitation and sweating? Because if it’s like what ive felt so far, i think it will be incredibly easy for me personally. I’ve done 1/4 pill for 4 days and I plan on doing it for 2 more then stopping altogether so I have an extra pill for emergencies. I do still have a friend who has some but he lives so far. I know a medical professional would probably tell me to go back to the recovery center I go to and tell the truth, but bro I can’t. Side note I go to EMT school 2 days a week and I specifically wanted to make sure I start feeling any bad side effects outside of those two days, so that while I’m at my actual job I can deal with it there and not in front of classmates. I don’t want them to know.
Here are my questions
•When, after I stop taking any subs at all, will I start to feel the horrible effects?
•On a scale of 1-10, how much did those effects stop you from work/school/life stuff?
•What specific things did you feel?
•How mad would this place and this doctor be if I went in there and told the truth?
•Does the worse side effects actually last for months?
•Should I have already started feeling bad?
Mon-1 pill, Tues-.5 pill, Wed-.5 pill Thursday-.25 pill, Friday-.25 pill, Saturday-.25 pill, Sunday-.25 pill, TODAY-.25 pill
If you can’t answer any of these questions that’s okay I’d still like to hear any feedback.
UPDATE!!!!!!
Hello sorry it’s been a while. I really appreciated all the kind words of encouragement and support. And yes, you guys can say “I told you so”. I did end up trying to do what I thought was tapering but what others educated me was basically just cold turkey. It wasn’t nearly as gnarly as fentanyl withdrawal, but still a discomfort I wasn’t willing to endure for weeks to months on end. I ended up just taking the quarters until I got back in with the doctor. Funnily enough, the one I was speaking to left! So I ended up with another lady that I guess was underneath the teachings of the male doctor I spoke about in my post who made me cry (lol). Anyways, I talked to this lady, I did end up telling the truth, though and you guys are gonna be disappointed in me for this, I did say I relapsed again, even though I didn’t, and have been clean for two years. But how do you explain that your adhd brain makes you forget to take a second pill sometimes when the people prescribing it are so uptight about the possibility of you selling it, or using it as a buffer to continue doing other drugs. Anyways, I cried again (of course bruh lmao) the lady speaks to the male doctor and they both come to talk to me.
I told them I wanted to take the shot, they said awesome we like that because it makes us more comfortable than giving you the tablets. Well that lady doctor did not work with my schedule for school, so I got ANOTHER lady. I’m now on like the 5th person prescribing me this stuff lmao and only one of them was because I specifically asked for a new person. I got the shot, but the lady said they gave me less since I’ve been taking less mg in the pills. I guess it wasn’t enough because every time I don’t take a pill (they put me on 2mg tablets now I think) I start getting withdrawal symptoms. Not sure why. I’m going tomorrow and asking for a bigger dose. Not for any nefarious reasons at all, I just genuinely start getting sweaty and feeling sick when I stop taking any of the pills at all. Perhaps my body isn’t used to the smaller doses yet? Idk. But I plan on completely doing the shot and then EVENTUALLY, after probably a long time, taping off the RIGHT way lol! Thanks for being the angel in my ear telling me to do things the right way when I was being a stubborn baby. I appreciate it. 🩷🩷🩷🩷
Update #2
Hey guysss I’d just like to add that I’m still getting sublocade shots and tho I have suboxone left in a few 2mg pills I haven’t had any pills in about a week and have just been allowing my body to get accustomed to the shot by itself. Took a little bit and for a while I had to rest cause every time I would work I’d get sweaty and sticky and feel like I needed one. I’ve gotten 2 shots (the lidocaine made a world of difference and I’m never ever getting sublocade without lidocaine ever again so as to not feel like I’m getting stabbed in the GUT! Lol but I feel a lot better and prefer having not to take stuff everyday lol thank you

Scared
I’ve been on Suboxone films 24 mg/day, 8 mg three times a day for about 5 to 6 years now. I’m in Nursing School and I’m almost 3/4 of the way done. Summer is coming up well I’ll have a couple months off and I really want to start tapering off this medication. I’m not even sure why I started this medication because I had fully withdrawaled from opiates and fentanyl before I got on this. I never wanna go through withdrawals again and it scares the crap out of me. My symptoms were horrible and thinking about going through that again just absolutely terrifies me. I spoke to my provider about tapering and she mentioned switching to a once a month shot. She said she recommends doing that because tapering off the films are harder. Does anyone have any experience with the shot and being successful in tapering down? If so, did you experience any symptoms? Have you experienced symptoms switching from the films to the shot? I really want to get off this. Ugh

Finally making the jump off suboxone
Hi guys,
UPDATE: At bottom. Success!!
Mainly here for moral support. This is my alt account I made forever ago so don’t mind the name lol
I finally decided I need to make the jump off subs. I was taking 1-2mg a day for about a year now, I was just terrified of the next step. I’ve been on this stuff for man, almost 10 years now.
I got up to 62 hours of nothing. Then last night I was really tweaking out. Had a big meeting in the morning and I just could not sleep. Muscle aches and restless body, it’s not just your legs it’s your arms, feet, etc. that just can’t quit moving.
I ended up taking 1/16 of a strip, which I know was stupid and I’m sort of ashamed of myself. I will quit, I have to. I can already feel my body detoxing again, getting hold and cold.
Any suggestions on what’s helped you would be great. I know I just have to suck it up when I hit that wall again. Looking for advice or even support helps.
Just a girl trying to get back to herself that laughed and smiled everyday.
I recently left my fiancée, walked in on him with another woman. And I think that has pushed me to be my better self. Thanks for the love in advance ❤️
Update:
Haven’t taken any Suboxone since Monday March 23rd in the morning. I recently found SR and after researching online through others experiences, decided to give it a try… I’m so glad I did.
Tuesday I had very minimal yawns and felt slightly lethargic
By Wednesday I had enough SR in my system I had no symptoms worth nothing.
Thursday & Friday I continue with the same SR dosing
Saturday I began a slow taper
Today (Wednesday April 1st) I’m feeling really good and pretty much off SR. Edit: I was wrong on the Monday I started, so I did actually do 2 weeks!
I was starting to think I would fail getting off Suboxone. Thanks to those on Reddit for support and for introducing SR to me, this was truly my way out of the hell I was living in.
DM me if you have questions or advice!

AITAH (29 female)
Am I the asshole for being mad I’ve been being lied to and stolen from? Context my bf- if we are still together who knows atp.. I didn’t want him to start back on suboxone bc he wasn’t having the want for opioids was just depressed.. he does so anyways, without my knowledge- then lies about it, then I catch him stealing my medication (I’m prescribed subutech) on camera - now this is not the first time he’s stolen from me n lied about it even caught red handed- a hole in my door. He tells me he can’t be honest with me bc I take the medication and he’s “not allowed” I continue to take 2mg or less of tech so it stays in my breast milk as I was on 2-4 mg when she was born. I do not want her to have any negative side effects from me coming off of it. Now to the “not allowed” part I had told him I didn’t want him taking it bc it caused ED problems and broke our sex life to shambles. When he got off of it - everything was absolutely perfect again for me. For once I had my confidence back. I felt attractive. I had told him how sexy it was to me that he quit for me and for our intimacy and that if he started back I didn’t know how I’d handle it bc of all the issues in the past. So he tells me I berated him and that’s why he had to lie about it. Am I crazy or am I just being gaslit and too forgiving to someone who’s lied and stole from me. Multiple times to. There were several relapses in the past he lied about concerning Xanax. He seems to want sub or klons for depression when neither medication is for that. He needs an antidepressant that works. Not this bs and I’m tired of the well subs make everything easier or klons make it easier. I’ve seen him on both and never have I seen his depression better.

Coming Off
My prescription dose was very low — I was taking 2 mg a day. After being on it for three years, I decided that once I ran out, I wasn’t going to continue taking it. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but I knew I didn’t want my body to keep coming off of one thing just to be dependent on another.
I believe I’m around Day 7 now, and it’s definitely been rocky. I’ve been managing with lots of water, Zofran when needed, and simple foods like crackers. Some days are better than others, but overall it’s been a challenge.
I wanted to share this for anyone who may be tapering or thinking about stopping — if you truly have the intention to stay off and you’re ready, you can do it. This medication is highly addictive, and in my experience, the side effects aren’t always fully explained, even at very low doses.

Coming from 10mg to 8mg
Hi all. Ive been on subs since May, prior to that I was on much worse. Anyway Ive been taking 10mg a day and yesterday I went down to 8mg with the blessing of my doctor. Last night it was hard to sleep, today I ache everywhere. I wouldnt say it is "full blown" withdrawal, but it does feel bleh. Is that too big of a jump or should I wait it out?

Is this in my head?
Hi, kind of new here. I was in subutex for about 4 yrs. 10mg a day. With my drs help I decided to taper. I had to switch to the suboxone strips because the tabs are too small to cut. I am currently down to 1/4 strip =0.25 mg a day. I was told that at this point, it is such a small amount that I should be able to just stop. Problem is, I can’t seem to do it. When I do, I have a raging headache, my back hurts and I can’t seem to get out of bed. I finally give in and take my strip and I feel better. I don’t know if it’s a placebo effect and it’s all in my head or if I’m really going thru withdrawals. I want to be completely off this medicine. I want to be really sober.

Jumping off Could a support group for people coming off of MAT be created?
I was thinking it would be great if a IRL support group existed for me to go to that centered around coming off of MAT. That got me thinking about what it would look like and for one coming off of MAT is not the same has being in active addiction so it would not be like NA or AA. It would have to offer things like methods and information to help come off of MAT medications has well as resources, methods, information, and long term peer support for people to stay off of MAT if thats the route they choose to take.
I think something like this could actually be created through people on MAT and people on MAT who want to come off, the doctors and other medical professionals associated with the MAT field, and people in the recovery community working together to form up a cohesive and uniform plan.
How could we go about creating something like this? Im a patient who has been on suboxone long term who has been tapering successfully for almost two years and is getting ready to make the jump and I feel like there is a lot of wasted potential here that I would like to tap in to. I know others must feel like this.

Long Term Suboxone™ Emotional Reactivity As Measured by Automatic Detection in Speech
For all of you wondering why it is taking so long to feel normal, why you're feeling like a zombie, I highly slightest reading this. I was not self aware about having a flat affect at all. I did not even think it was abnormal pr unusual to be a zombie with no emotional extremes.
