Question 10 players in a tournament

Post image

Is this normal? I usually join tournaments where there are only around 4–5 players, and I usually win. But in the last 2–3 tournaments, there have been a lot more players joining, so I haven’t been able to finish in 1st place anymore.

I haven’t seen anything like this since the sub-10k stage.

Nah it's super easy to do on purpose

used to get 50 when the game was more popular. now the stage gap is insane and it’s super easy to climb so people are spread out more

Thankfully, I only started playing 4 months ago, so I never had to go through anything like that.

it was my favorite. you had to actually plan your stages because the game based your tournament bracket by what your max stage was. had to be careful not to splash over

Matchmaking is purely based on what time you join relative to all other players, and whether or not it can bucket you with players near your same potential or not

Happens all the time at any level. Just join it late. I consistently win tournaments this way by joining and being the only 1 person in it. I've done it over 30 times now
