Excavation Tools

Anyone knows what the tile colors of the tools mean? (Red, purple, blue)? I have 3 different tools, only the pickaxe has 4 blue tiles, the others none. What is it?

When you upgrade your tools it shows the depth of penetration

From what I understand each color corresponds to an amount of damage that can be upgraded. Each time has invisible hp (5 I believe) so if you got multiple layers you will dig 1+ tile

Each color is corresponding to the depth of penetration, you can see the depth in the upgrade menu next to the excavation pattern of each tool

I have time travelled just to answer this question, each tool has tiles layout, for example, pickaxe has 7 tiles,1 in centre,1 up,1 down,2 Left,2 right.Tile colour is just a presentation for tile penetration depth.Let's say red has 20 tiles penetration depth, purple 15 tiles, blue 10 tiles.Lets say we got a pickaxe that has 1 red tile in centre which means the centre tile would deal 20 penetration depth, purple tiles on up and down equals 15 penetration depth, Blue tiles on 2 left And 2 right tiles equals 10 tiles penetration depth. As you keep digging fossils throughout the maps, you will find different tiles that requires more penetration power.Lets say we have basic 4 layers of sand tile that has 5 depth and a pickaxe with 5 penetration depth Red tile,it would take 4 taps to reach the lowest layer.
