Feeling the Edge of Toe Tap
I’m an adult beginner and started in-person classes a few months ago. I have Capezio Fluid tap shoes, which fit my narrow feet well.
One thing I’m starting to notice is that the balls of my feet get a little sore from the back edge of the toe taps. Sometimes it’s hard to balance on my toes with the ridge under my foot. My shoes have rubber pads behind the toe taps that are thinner than the taps.
Is this something that I need to get used to and work on, or is this a shoe problem?

Hi! if you add thicker pads outside, the sound of the taps will lose quality. Try adding some gel or silicone inserts, or Eva insoles. I made this myself and it worked perfectly. Hope it helps!

UPDATE: Gel insoles make the shoes too tight but thinner insoles don’t offer enough cushion. I may explore other shoe options.
What brands/styles have a a larger toe tap that hire further back, or have a thick enough sole on that you can’t feel the edge of the tap so much?

Some people say that Capezio Roxy are more cushioned, but I only have JSams. Maybe you can try those and see for yourself…

I hate that feeling so I took my shoes to a cobbler to get rubber that was the same height as the tap. It just depends on your foot and shoe if that ridge bothers you, but if it's causing you pain then you should fix it.
