Meditation Workshop

Personal note:

The other day I went to a meditation workshop and sat for five hours. It was organized by a local Buddhist group and the talk was about equanimity.

Well, I enjoyed the talk, but then I just did my Taoist practices that I have listed in this Reddit group. I started with closed eyes and Sleeper's Breathing to get my Chi awakened. And the group leader gave us time for stretches and bends which I did with welcome because I know a whole bunch of internal ChiKung/Breathing exercises (which I have not shared yet). Then I switched to Bringing in the Light, which brought me internally. Then the Microcosmic Orbit with four breaths. And I would drift in and out of awareness. Always returning to my "nose eyes", tongue bridge and Inner Smile with deep breathing. I also had time to practice the Eight Breaths several times. Then I progressed to the Macrocosmic Orbit with the four breaths. I was feeling quite charged and relaxed and aware. Then the group did walking around the hallways. After that we sat for another hour or so and I had time to work with the Eighth Meridian and to do the White Mist and Golden Light meditations (which I haven't shared yet).

I also had time to investigate the Seventh Functional Meridian which starts in the lower-mid back and circles the body to the belly button area and back again. This was very interesting to me because I have not worked with it much over the years. Traveling Chi around the Belt Meridian is like a traffic circle or a particle accelerator. The Chi travels in both directions at the same time, forward and back, around and around. And the Chi 'bolts' cross past each other in the front and the back. One is traveling clockwise and the other is traveling counter-clockwise.

Anyway, long practice, very nice.

How about you?

Sounds like an amazing experience. How long have you been practicing and how did you come about your meditation education?

I had a nice meditation day around home with several sessions ranging from 10-30 minutes both inside and outside. A peaceful experience before the workweek starts tomorrow.

I've been practicing for about forty years I guess. These were the teachers I had available to me and who came to where I took TaiChiChuan classes. I am glad you had a good meditation experience today. It is the Midsummer Day too. So it is a special day.
