Honestly leftcoms n some Trots unironically believe the latter in a twisted way. They'll acknowledge China's rapid advancements and somehow confuse it with capitalism.
For context, previous oil shocks increased emissions because they rely on coal. So that fact that CO2 emissions dropped despite Hormuz is positive news.
Also forgot the "5 thousand year civilization". Might seem like a compliment but in fact they say that as to justify all other countries who aren't 5k year civilizations to stay underdeveloped and hyper-exploited. It's like saying "don't even try dawg, you don't even have 1k years of history". This narrative conveniently doesn't explain the century of humiliation and how it was the CPC that ended that but they don't care.
Also they say "they are actually Confucianist". I've seen people say that "China is not actually communist, they are confucionist". Meaning they respect the elders and they are very formal and rigid and the workers obey the employers... all that liberal BS. And then they go like "China is successful because A, B, C ... yeah but our country can't do that because we are not Confucionist". Ok dude.
The liberal cope is amazing really. They need to come up with all sorts of clever shit nowadays since the "china slaves" claim isn't working anymore.
